Lips - is this what people are aspiring to these days?

An old boyfriend has shared photos to advertise a friend's beauty salon. I know I'm not their target audience, but I'm still shocked that this is what women are supposedly looking for these days.
I do get that if you have thin lips it'd be nice to have them plumped up a bit. But these are so clearly fake.
Am I just an old fuddy-Duddy with no idea? Confused

Precisely - I like the way it looks, and that’s all that matters to me. Feel free to disagree.

Nobody sees me most of the time but I am vein and look in the mirror a lot. I like what I see. 😉

I dont especially want botox, fillers, lip fillers etc but one thing that puts me off is that you might get a completely different look, and suffer painful consequences, if something went wrong, or you acquired an infection.
However (because its not my preference) i have not read up, or researched it so it might be a lot safer, and more heavily regulated than i initially thought.

Sadly not - I watched a bbc3 documentary with Anchal Seda.

Not at all comforting. Learning procedures by zoom if you please.

I cannot understand why anyone would let someone other than a doctor or dentist inject their faces. (I mean I don't understand why anyone would do it anyway, but it's their choice of course.)

I just watched an episode of naked attraction and the guy said he would like a girl with full lips. The show went onto explain how men may be attracted to this look because large face lips look like large labia and instills a perception of a good breeder/mother

Lips are very expressive, a wry smile can say a lot, a pout too. If someone is injected with lip fillers all that power of expression is gone. I'm really not sure who exactly thinks it is a good look, aspirational Vogue type models never have this look, models for well regarded clothing brands too seem to have said No. ost odd.

@IHateCoronavirus that’s such an interesting comment, would be a good PHD subject!

You’re welcome Wink

@Millymog

call me soft if you like. (I am her mother).

But I look at my 11/12 year old daughter and I think she is so beautiful.

She is starting into puberty but she has that aura of innocence.

Soft unblemished skin (well starting to show a spot or two as I did);
Slightly lanky legs.

Thick (without any dye so far) beautiful rich glossy hair in an ungainly bob.

These are physical things I look at in my old age and can think - "beautiful" because they are as they are. Just as they are.

When did people start to think what they look like in their teens / twenties needs to be drastically and physically modified to comply with pornography??

This. I look at my beautiful daughters and think the same. The beauty is natural. Unaltered.

Jesus, so much judgement.

I have them, they have boosted my confidence 100x, as I have the thinnest small lips naturally, and £175 a pop every few months to help me feel more confident about myself is a winner :)

I'm late 20s, so not the youngest, I have a fantastic career and can spend my money how I like. I think plump lips are beautiful, and don't judge anyone who has lip fillers to achieve this. It's simply not my business, and I'm not an arsehole about others style and beauty choices.

Horehound · 14/07/2021 13:36

That doesn't mean we have to like them 🤷
