Nasolabial fillers on Thursday afternoon - date on Saturday night - will I look normal?

I've got a date with the first guy I've been properly excited about in almost a decade on Saturday night but am booked in for nose to mouth line fillers on Thursday afternoon. Can anyone tell me if I can expect to look normal again by Saturday night to the extent that I'm unlikely to feel really self-conscious on the date? Or is there a significant chance I might look swollen and odd?

The doctor I'm seeing has almost 30 years experience and is very well thought of - and I know one person who's been to her in real life who was also really happy with her result (after going somewhere else that was also highly thought of but that she was really unimpressed by).

I've had to cancel multiple times now due to various lockdowns and other life circumstances and she has a really long waiting list so I'd rather not cancel unless the risk of still looking weird is high?! Can anyone tell me if it is?!

I should maybe add that it's just the beginnings of nose to mouth lines so it would only be at the corners of my mouth - not all the way up to my nose.

Ask the doctor.

I have done and am waiting to hear back but I was interested in hearing from mumsnetters too.

Can you move the date back a week? Give it time to settle?

marcapola · 05/07/2021 15:27

Yeah, I may try that - it's just that her wait list is really long.

I had them 3 days before Xmas.
I didn't have any bruising or swelling that was noticeable.
I'd just do it.

I never had any issues and could have gone on a date straight away. My doc did warn me though that some people bruise quite a bit and there is a chance you will look like you've been in a fight.

I'd go for it and if it's really bad you can always move the date.

I did it once, years ago (amazing results!!) but I did have some very mild but still noticeable bruising for about 3 days after… and it was done by one of the best. So it can happen.

Oh corners of the mouth should be fine actually. I remember that bit looking immediately lovely… no bruising whatsoever in that bit… more up by the nose itself is where I had the bruising.

I never have any bruising etc from mine but I have quite tough skin. I do have some bruising from botox sometimes but nothing a bit of make up can't fix.

I have had and you might have bruising, but should not be much. Do you bruise easily in general? Take arnica before and after the appointment and/or bromide, and if you bruise get the concealer intended to cover tattoos. Have fun!
