Will these vegan DM Blaire sandals stretch with wear? Please say yes <cries>.

They're the chunky sandals of my dreams but the middle band of the three on the top of the foot is too tight and I can't even get my toes to the front of the sandal 😨

They fit great around the ankle.

Have loads of DM boots and shoes and I'm always a 5. Plus the reviews of the Blaire say that they run super big (up to 2 sizes bigger than normal) yet I can't even get my pudgy trotters in them?

Am mid weight loss (1.5 stones down, 1 to go). Have almost convinced myself that that will make all the difference.

Can anyone who owns these tell me if they stretch or not? Happy to wear about the house and hairdryer them if needed but if they're never going to fit I will (reluctantly) return 😭

The weight loss might well make the difference, but I wouldn't rely on them stretching I'm afraid.

It’s the vegan but that doesn’t sound hopeful. Synthetic materials have less ‘give’.

They do look incredibly shallow across the instep.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 22/06/2021 16:19

I don't think 1 stone will make much difference to the size of your feet, I'm sorry. Feet only really change size with significant weight loss/gain (or at least mine don't!).

LazyMareofEastown · 22/06/2021 16:47

SHITE 🥺

They're going back. £100 is too much to spend for them to potentially never fit.

If anyone can find a fat-footed dupe I'd be eternally grateful. Have trawled my usual wide fit shops (ASOS, New Look, Simply Be) but nothing grabbing me.

Oh and real leather is fine btw.

I ordered the vegan ones by accident.

Am I mixing you up with someone else, or is the second time you’ve been really rude about yourself this week?

RickiTarr · 22/06/2021 16:51

Clarks have these, which are somewhat similar but not exactly. Very 90s;

Would these work?

£100 for plastic sandals?! Wow Doc Martens are being a bit cheeky there Shock
Sorry, no help but they will just rub your feet raw.

Miseryisabutterfly · 22/06/2021 20:53

I’ve just noticed these in the &OS sale too

Call manmade (planet destroying) synthetic material 'vegan' and slap a stupid price on it. I've heard it all now.

Alternista · 22/06/2021 21:57

I’m probably being really thick here, but… couldn’t you just re-order a size up??

It's not just the material, it's about the glue as well, and DMs are expensive anyway, this doesn't seem out of the usual for their prices.
AnyFucker · 22/06/2021 22:09

Not leather = no stretch

LazyMareofEastown · 23/06/2021 08:34

They're packaged up to go back this morning.

In their defence, the vegan "leather" does not look cheap or plasticky at all (I find that cheaper vegan shoes almost always do) but accept that they're very unlikely to stretch. Much prefer real leather especially for £££.

Really like those first gladiator ones from & other stories that you've linked to Misery - thank you 🌺🌸.

If you can't get your foot in fully there's no way of knowing that the length is right either. Returning them is the right move.

FlyingBurritoBrothers · 23/06/2021 09:42

They look like they'd rip your feet to shreds anyway OP.

I have the Dr Martens Voss and I can confirm they're good for wide feet and v comfortable.

Beeeeeeeeeeeeeep · 23/06/2021 09:46

I couldn't get on with those sandals at all. My little toe kept escaping and getting caught and they are too heavy. I sold mine on eBay for more than I paid new Confused
I think they are not a great design

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 23/06/2021 15:15

These any good?

Animal agriculture is far worse for the planet than a durable pair of shoes. Methane emissions, Amazon deforestation, consumption of a large fraction of the grain grown in the US, etc.

Or cut out the middle strap?

Y2ker · 19/06/2025 19:41

Op, I have similar issues with DM sandals. And I order the leather ones! Have you tried Voss in your normal size? They are really comfy and don't have that middle band issue (why the hell to they make it so tight?! I have slim feet but high arches and they're really tight!). BTW don't make the mistake I did and order gryphon because they have the same issue and are also really heavy!
