Deakin and Blue swimsuits- anyone tried them ?

I like the look of them as I am busty, but they do look short in the body, and as I am tallish (5’8”) I think they might not work for me, has anyone tried them ? They are expensive but I am fed up of not having a swimsuit that fits. I have a narrow back, 28H bra size, and a tummy that needs smoothing as I have the c-section shelf after two caesareans.
Whenever i buy a bra sized swimsuit, as my back is small they are too short. Non bra sized swimsuits vary, some too short, some fine, but too small in the bust. Tankinis ruck up under my wetsuit and wires aren’t very comfortable under a wetsuit either. I just want to have the ease of a one piece but each year the same problems.

Oh, watching with interest as I’ve had my eye on one the last few months but they are very expensive. I have major problems also trying to find a stylish swimsuit that fits me - 34FF and 5’4. I have just bought one recently from Andie swim after a recommendation on here. That also was quite expensive once you factor in the shipping but it’s a lovely costume. You do a little quiz and they match you to the ‘perfect’ costume!

I'm 6ft and find them ok.
(their reversible one is a little short in the body, but no more than other swimsuits)
supportive and flattering as anything tho. Genuinely the swimsuit I feel most confident in.

SirVixofVixHall · 10/06/2021 21:18

b1990 that sounds hopeful ! Thank you. Which style works for you ?
I will also look at Andie swim, I have never heard of them.

I've actually discovered that high waisted bikinis (as in up to the navel) are the most practical and flattering thing for a c-section overhang. I've had 3 cesareans, the first of which was an emergency one done in the middle of the night and which the consultant who did my later ones was very scathing about... have also gained and list a lot of weight, and am a 34G bra size.

I have the Gemini Palm high waisted bikini from the Freya lingerie brand. It goes up to an HH but only starts at band size 30, not 28. Could be worth trying as I've found that in some brands (and styles within a brand) I am a different size to others, anything from 34F to 36GG - but Freya do have bikinis in a 28H. Obviously an advantage is being able to mix and match bottom and top sizes and styles.

b1990 · 10/06/2021 23:08

I had their teal x back (and gave it to a friend when I had 'too many swimsuits' and it's the only swimsuit I miss!!)

Also have their blue and navy reversible one and their crop bikini - tho wish I'd got the highwaisted bottoms

(I swim 5-6 times a week when not pregnant and do 10km swim events, I'm not just obsessed with siwmsuits)

SirVixofVixHall · 10/06/2021 23:15

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme i have seen a few Freya bikinis that I like but the bra tops don’t fit me well, the wires sit under my armpits. I did buy a high waist bikini from Bravissimo but the top is a pretty terrible fit. The bottoms do smooth the shelfy tummy a bit though.

mrschocolatte which Andie swim suit did you get ? I did the quiz but it suggests one for me that is a plain tank style. That shape never suits me at all, I need something that comes in properly just under my bust, rather than flattening it down. It isn’t suggesting any other options, although some of the other suits look nice.

I've got the x-back Hendricks, which fits well and is very supportive. I'm tall with a short body and the length is fine on me.

ZenNudist · 10/06/2021 23:27

Are these designed for the big boobed?

I swim 3 times a week and don't think they will stand up to the chlorine. Anyone else use them to swim several times a week?

I think they look very 1930s. The black one woukd work for an elegant woman (so not me!) but mainly look frumpy to me?

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 10/06/2021 23:36

I swim three times a week and my swimsuit looks like new. They are very good quality.

b1990 · 10/06/2021 23:38

I swim at least 3 times a week and in open water and these are still good as new.
They're bonded lycra made from econyl so a ridiculously durable fabric

SirVixofVixHall · 11/06/2021 00:03

I am definitely going to buy one now, worth trying I think. I like the colours and shapes. Some styles do say they come up short in the body and I am definitely not short bodied. Probably average for my height overall but long waisted and a reasonable bum which takes up some of the stretch !

ZenNudist they come in three bust shapes for each style, the Hepburn, which is a small cup, the Monroe which is more curvy, and the Hendricks which is for up to H cups I think.

Hi OP, I ended up with The Tulum Flat in the classic fit, which they also do for long torsos. I was nervous about it, but it fit really well.

I think given the reviews on here you’re right to try the Deakin and Blue swimsuit…let us know how you get on as I’m seriously tempted to get one myself!

SirVixofVixHall · 11/06/2021 09:27

Yes the Tulum flat was the one suggested for me. In other costumes I have found that plain vest shape not very flattering on me at all. Much better with a more separate bust section.
Do they have an inner shelf bra ?

OP posts:
mrschocolatte · 12/06/2021 06:26

Hi OP, yes there is an elastic bit that sits under your chest and it is padded (removable) for extra support. It’s really simple and actually makes the costume look quite plain from the front but the cross straps make it look amazing from behind . And those straps really do help keep you in place! I bought the black one but I’m tempted to get another one in the red…..so I can recreate Baywatch on the beaches of Cornwall this summer! Grin

SirVixofVixHall · 05/07/2021 15:03

I tried the x back and it is too short in the body for me in my size. Gorgeous suit though, I wish they would bring out a tall version. They get longer in the body as the sizes get bigger but obviously that doesn’t work if one is at the smaller size end and tall.
Beautiful colour and amazing quality, fully double lined.
I am going to try a different style.

Ah I’m sorry I missed this first time round - same problem here, too short in the body.

onanadventure · 05/07/2021 15:53

Try DavyJ.
Similar quality - but do a 2 piece which is BIG pants (Jones briefs) and then a range of tops - can make it look like a 1 piece.

TheTeaFairy · 05/07/2021 16:45

I have a DavyJ cross-back one-piece. Fantastic quality - it's made with two layers of eco-friendly fabric and feels comfortable and secure.

Wellwhatalovelyday · 06/07/2021 14:13

How does DavyJ go down with big boobs?

AsCoolAsKimDeal · 06/07/2021 21:37

DavyJ cross-back didn't work for me (32G)

Wellwhatalovelyday · 06/07/2021 22:07

Thanks!
