What sort of beauty products are you an absolute sucker for?

An advert just popped up on my Facebook for a product called Revlon "Rose Glow", and I had to shut it down rapidly before I bought it, because I absolutely do not need any more beauty products, but I find it very hard to resist anything that:
A) promises to give me a "glow", or
B) is rose scented.

I also find it hard not to give any new products for curly hair a whirl, despite having a cupboard full of expensive mistakes that do nothing for my fine, frizzy curls. I have, at least, stopped trying every mascara on the market since discovering only tubing ones don't give me panda eyes.

How about you, what can't you resist?

Eye shadows - of the purple to black variety.

Spied · 09/06/2021 17:05

I'm with you on rose scent.
In fact, in ts perfumes that are my downfall.

jay55 · 09/06/2021 17:27

Lipgloss. One day I'll declare one the perfect colour and coverage. Until then I reserve my right to seek out the impossible.

lemorella · 09/06/2021 18:33

Pale pink lipsticks and shimmery primers. The latter I'm mostly allergic to but love the glow.

PacificState · 09/06/2021 18:36

Liquid or gel eyeliners that promise they don't smudge, and cream/stick/liquid blushers (never powders)

I have never got along with lipstick or eyeshadow, though, so I tell myself it all works out in the end...

inmyslippers · 09/06/2021 18:44

Another one for curly hair stuff

Eyeshadow pallets with warm tones, tinted lip balms if on offer (nars is my fav)
Anything with a freebie, especially cult beauty

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/06/2021 19:17

Oooh, I do that too BuggerBognor! Earlier this week I bought a tinted moisturiser and a concealer I only sort-of wanted in order to get the Boots Beauty Hero gift bag - most of which I will never use. And I've ordered a denim jacket - that I sort of need as mine is falling apart but not really because I do have other jackets - just to get the M&S Summer Beauty bag. Confused

Still, at least I'll use most of the things in the M&S bag. Hey, maybe the Aveda leave in will finally fix my hair!

Another one with fine curlyish hair that has bought every product ever recommended or advertised to 'smooth' my frizz. THEY DO NOT WORK!

Lollypop701 · 09/06/2021 19:24

Op, what tubing mascara do you use?

suckingonchillidogs · 09/06/2021 19:26

Foundation/BB cream/tinted moisturiser - still looking for the perfect one (that probably doesn't exist!).

citygirl1961 · 09/06/2021 19:26

Foundations - why can't I just settle on one. Am torn between No7 and Clinique.

Hair products that promise smooth frizz free hair.

Letsgetreadytocrumble · 09/06/2021 19:27

Shimmery/iridescent eyeshadows or highlighters - I have loads!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/06/2021 19:35

@Lollypop701

Op, what tubing mascara do you use?

Usually the No.7 one in the gold tube - Stay Perfect? They've just released an "ultra" version which gives a more dramatic look.

The Glossier one is nice for a more natural look, and comes off easier than the No.7 one.

I used to use the Clinique one (Lash Power?) but it's no better than the other two and more expensive.

Much as I love an eyeshadow or lipstick, I reserve my worst excesses for posh bubble baths and lotions. My pandemic treat has been a monthly L’Occitaine order and I can’t see me dropping it any time soon.

EversoDelighted · 09/06/2021 19:50

Nail polish, just can't help it. Inexpensive perfumes from M&S etc too.

I have finally weaned myself off curly hair products after realising that NONE of them work on my hair.

StevieNix · 09/06/2021 19:53

Nude eyeshadow palettes - for example the naked urban decay ones
Nude lip liners- I’m forever on the hunt for the perfect one!
Powder highlighers - I want a glow but I’ve got oily skin so no liquid highlighters etc for me.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 09/06/2021 19:53

Hair products.

66babe · 09/06/2021 19:53

"Conditioning" hair treatments , moisture adding products
Nope - still got a bleached head of straw

DidgeDoolittle · 09/06/2021 19:56

I am also a sucker for curly hair, fight the frizz products. None of them work. I have shelves full. This hot weather still turns my hair into a frizzy bush.

irey · 09/06/2021 20:00

I just spent an indecent amount of money on a Dyson air wrap which was going to totally transform my newly long (thank you Covid for allowing me to grow my hair !) hair . Am trying to persuade myself that it will be amazing once I learn how to use it properly !! Another sucker for hair products of any type ! I could start a shop with brushes / rollers / tongs alone !

Kjr33 · 09/06/2021 20:02

Tinted Lip balms and lip tints I could wear with a lip balm, basically love lip balms but hate looking in the mirror and seeing the colour is all gone…..never found one that feels nice like a lip balm and has actual colour staying power

Lookdeepintotheparka · 09/06/2021 20:02

Perfume - I've got loads of bottles and would probably never get through them all Blush

I'm quite obsessed with skincare in general. I'm trying so hard to become more ethical and not buy so much but like you, OP I get loads of tempting ads and I struggle to resist!!
