What to wear to hen party and evening wedding reception

OK, after about 10yrs in this country have been invited to a winter wedding - a first! Hen party starts at around 2pm and goes on all day - are jeans OK? Are we meant to dress up?
Evening reception is dinner and dance. Would a nice top and black trews do? I am short (5ft1in), size 10, reasonably slim with 32C boobs but a flabby tum which means I have gratefully embraced the smock/tunic look so far. Chinese which sums up my colouring! I can't wear heels, was hoping to find something to go with flat patent ballet pumps. Costwise was going to go and look in Jigsaw but any ideas appreciated!

no clue re the hen - contact the bride or the chief bridesmaid as you don't want to be in a frock if you're paintballing

silk tunic and black evening trous sounds fine for the reception - Jigsaw is heaving with lovely things. Also worth poking round Hobbs and Phase Eight.

We are doing still life drawing so paintballing is out. As long as we are not expected to dress up at 2pm I'm OK then.

now that sounds like a sensible sort of hen!

best jeans and a nice jumper or something

I'm sure you can guess what the still life is!
