If you’re a short apple shape with a large chest, what do you wear in summer?!

Help please!
Every summer I have this problem ( well, it’s a year round problem but seems worse in summer. ) I’m 44, 5ft 2, a size 14-16 on top and 12-14 bottom, with GG boobs that take up my entire torso. I’ve been trying to lose weight but it only ever seems to come off the places I don’t want it to! I just feel like everything I wear is either uncomfortable, unflattering, or both and everything I see on other people who look good wouldn’t suit my shape.
So can anyone with a similar problem please share any success stories?! At the moment I’m stuck in baggy t shirts ( cannot find T-shirt’s that aren’t either too clingy or look like a tent ) and shorts or lightweight trousers.
I also have keratosis pilaris on my upper arms and lower legs, so even though my legs are fairly slim I don’t like getting them out as hair removal results in an angry rash. Fake tan just sits in the pores and makes it looks worse.
I’d like to try longer skirts but can’t find any that don’t swamp me. Ditto maxi dresses, which are also usually skimpy up top!
Sorry for the long and moany post!

My friend has the same figure and she always looks nice. Google image search "Bias cut linen dress with sleeves" and "Bias cut linen tunic"

We live in Oz and it's hot here...she's always looking lovely. She wears these dresses with lovely sandals.

Thank you I’ll have a look. Isn’t linen a bit crease-y though?

What about something like this from new look? Cotton so cool and comfortable but keeps you covered up.

I also think that bias cut long skirt and tighter T-shirt top (v neck, 3/4 sleeves) is better that one long dress

Iheartmysmart · 02/06/2021 10:18

I’m a similar shape but a bit shorter and with HH boobs. Summer is a nightmare, especially as I’m a reluctant grown up goth at heart. Anything floaty looks ridiculous so I tend to go with slim fit lightweight trousers, narrow jersey maxi skirts, wide leg jersey trousers with a flat waistband (Next Petite) and a plain v or scoop neck tops. Anything gathered, especially at the waist is a no as it adds too much bulk. M&S currently have a relaxed fit t-shirt which also seems to work despite being round neck. Just wear something slim fitting on the bottom half.

I am 5ft2 with big boobs and somehow they fit my top part and skim my tum.

I love these dresses. They change the style slightly every year, I have loads of different ones.
I'm ordering one of these - liking the v neck.

notangelinajolie · 02/06/2021 10:30

Or this one. Lots of colours to choose from. I promise there will be no tent affect on these ones. I have many Smile

I like the New Look dress, but I’m just too short and busty for that style. End up looking like I’m wearing my granny’s old nightie!
Going to look into bias cut though, I had it in my head as something else so never looked at that style before but it looks like it could flatter.

None of the floaty stuff in the shops at the moment.

I'm the same shape.
Tops either semi fitted t shirt or something boxy and drapey like www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0938599003.html
Bottoms fairly fitted shorts or striaght above knee skirts

Check out boden linen dresses

FortunesFave · 02/06/2021 11:32

Have you got slim legs? My friend is short and busty (apple) and she often wears skinny pants with a nice sandal or heel and a baggy ish shirt which shows off her cleavage. She looks gorgeous like that. As a pear I often envy her bust and skinny legs.

I'm 41 and a similar shape but slightly taller and bigger boobs and I am look absolutely awful in some things, a real beached whale. I think they keyvis to try things you migjt never have tried before, if you've got a credit card with some room left then buy some of the things recommended here and try them on - you'll be surprised what actually looks good.

Come and join us on this thread OP, lots of ideas

I wear wide legged, high waisted and well tailored trousers, with a loose floaty blouse tucked in and 'pulled out' to create the illusion of a waist. The bagginess above the tucked in bit hides that theres also quite a bit of tummy in there too.

Cydonia · 02/06/2021 13:49

Wow, thank you all for the replies! Definitely lots of things to try that I haven’t considered before.
I do have slim-ish legs so I’ll look into narrow trousers, it’s just hard finding the right top to go with them!
Love those Sugarhill Brighton dresses too.
I need to look for somewhere with free returns.....Wink Let’s hope summer doesn’t disappear just yet!

This is my dilemma too. I didn't used to be overweight so I am struggling to get used to this shape and can't figure out what looks ok.

In the winter I do skinny jeans and a loose top but I can't find a summer solution

goose1964 · 02/06/2021 19:57

If you have big boobs you'd probably not be an 🍎, try googling dressing for a B shape that should give you some ideas. I'm a similar shape but on the tall side and I have enough problems, also short waisted. I really see your problems.

Cydonia · 02/06/2021 22:54

Ooh, never heard of a B shape, will have a look now!
I tell myself that I would look so much slimmer if only I were a little taller. When really I just need the will power to eat less crap....
