Are next big fitting? Can I really be a 12??

Weight has dropped off me since I went on ADs, and my size 16 jeans were literaly falling off as I walked so went and got some 14s (two pairs) on saturday, just wore pair to do school run and they are still big. Can get both hands easily in waistband without pulling it out and they were falling down slightly as I walked (could feel thighs rubbing together) .

Should have tried on in shop but have always been a 14, even pre ds! Should feel pleased I have lost weight but feel a bit numb about everything at the mo.

Are next large fitting? Obviously I can't take back the pair I have worn but could change the other pair I think.

I find next are a generous fit but this is based on the last time I shopped in Next which was over a year ago so probably worth seeking an opinion of a recent Next shopper!

Congrats though, a 12 is a 12 IMO, no matter what shop it is from

Oh I thought you were complaining that size 12 was large, I was about to come and sit on you

I know it's not deliberate, but size 12 is good!

I've never found them overly generous.

I can wear 10s from Gap (which I love as they get called a 6), Monsoon & Boden, Next is a comfortable 12 and H&M a snug 12 They're the shops I frequent the most.

I think they do go in for 'vanity sizing' - although don't want to undermine what must be a pretty significant weight loss! - I have two pairs of linen trousers that are a size 8. As I'm 5ft2 and hover around 9 stone 10 - 10 stone, there is no way I'm really a size 8! Most of the clothes I wear are size 12, sometimes a 10 (on a thin day!)

CountessDracula · 19/11/2007 10:05

They are big

I am a 14 and their 14 jeans hang off me

KaySamuels · 19/11/2007 10:15

I do think they must be big fitting, I can't ever remember being a 12, was probably about 13 years old! Don't know how much I have lost as I don't do scales!

Next are strangely cut I find, with v large waists compared to the rest of it. In trousers, I thunk I'd need an 11(!) in Next, a 6 (!!!!) in Gap but a 12 in most other places. But Next tops are cut too big across the back but too small in the boobs I find. In fact, Next and I just don't get on very well at all!

Well done on the weight loss and I hope things feel better soon.

yep next are generously sized BUT that's ok just buy all your clothes in there then your a size 12 excellent

ps well done for weight loss
