Can anybody help me find a bikini that doesn't look horrific?

I haven't worn a bikini in 20 years! I'm mid forties now and sick of wearing one pieces that squash my breasts and make me look like a pre pubescent with belly issues.

I am a size 10-12, 34d, and I need high waisted bottoms with ample material in the are area to cover my jiggly backside. My breasts are incapable of supporting themselves so I need a top that will hold them up.
Anybody had any success finding something like that? All recommendations gratefully received.

Buy separates with bra sized bikini tops

KM38 · 29/05/2021 09:54

@MouseInCatsClaws I’m sure you’d look great in any 😊 not sure how high wasted you want or what your budget is but this Panache one is one of the best I’ve ever bought 👍🏻Comes in plain black too 😊

Have a look at Curvy Kate swimwear. I have a couple of high waisted bikinis from there. They do D+ bras and swimwear. The bikinis and swimsuits are bra sized so you get proper support. Curvy Kate do lots of different styles and lovely patterns.

The Brastop website often have them cheap. That’s where I buy mine from. Brastop have a range of brands like Pour Moi which do high waisted bikini styles, but I’ve only tried Curvy Kate ones as they seem to work for me.

How does Simply Be work ? I tried to order something but it seems you have to set up an account ?

Fluffyandsilly · 29/05/2021 10:00

Just had a look for you and this one is lovely!

And the matching bottoms are control briefs which might make you feel a bit more confident:

@KM38 and @Fluffyandsilly thank you! Loads of great possibilities and I really like that black Spanish one

Bravissimo can be good for this:

starsinyourpies · 29/05/2021 13:06

Also I have had a couple of Pour Moi bikinis and the tops are super flattering on big boobs!

@SirVixofVixHall you can set up a credit account if you want, but ideally at the checkout there’s the option to add to account or to pay in full 😊
MouseInCatsClaws · 29/05/2021 13:37

@starsinyourpies that's really lovely too, thanks!

KM38 thank you ! When I tried to check out I could only see a credit account option whereas I wanted to pay in full. Also it refused to accept my postcode and nearest town as matching. I gave up.

murbblurb · 29/05/2021 14:30

I'm sure you won't look horrific! However I've never been a big fan of strolling about in knickers. Boardshorts are much better, dry quickly, don't disappear up your rectum and cover normal female hair growth. Look good with a bra top, can't really help there as I always wear rash vest or t shirt, keeps the sun off.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 29/05/2021 15:50

If you are size 10 to 12 it's possible you are more a 32E or 30 F.

BrownEyedGirl80 · 29/05/2021 15:51

Sorry 32 dd or 30 e.

justchecking1 · 29/05/2021 15:54

I quite like Boden tankinis for this

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 29/05/2021 15:58

I would look horrific in any bikini so I wear a tankini top with tankini shorts.

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 29/05/2021 16:03

Bravissimo do some fabulous bikinis!!

Karmatime · 29/05/2021 16:13

Boden do separates, I’d size down though, I’m a 32DD and only need a C cup in their bra sized ones. They have a choice of bottoms too including shorts and high rise ones.

Wegobshite · 29/05/2021 18:06

There are some really nice highwaisted bikini bottoms on www.pourmoi.co.uk/
They do range of really high waisted and mini high waisted and also one with the bikini bottom that you fold over so have it higher or lower

You can mix match the tops

Freeman’s & Verys club books also do some really nice high waisted types

JaceLancs · 29/05/2021 23:25

I’m a bit too heavy at the moment to pull off a bikini - dreadful lockdown gain
My best bikinis previously have been bravissimo - next - Sainsbury’s
All bought as separates with bra size top and dress size bottoms
Bravissimo had best choice of different styles mix mix match but were most expensive and just plain black

Gingangoolee · 30/05/2021 10:36

Hi I’m the same size as you and got perfect high waist green bikini from wolford in their sale last year it’s lovely and plain bottoms in M Fitted had to get the top in large and then took in the band for back size. Bra not underwired but v supportive and no bulges

LuvMyBubbles · 30/05/2021 11:53

Australian brand but these are gorgeous for every size.

Montalbanosono · 30/05/2021 13:31

I know you asked for high-waisted but just thought I would add that I think high-waisted only works if you are younger with a washboard stomach! Actually it is usually more flattering to have hip-skimming bikini bottoms.

Montalbanosono · 30/05/2021 13:35

I have this and it is quite sturdy and actually quite flattering:

MouseInCatsClaws · 30/05/2021 14:28

@BrownEyedGirl80 thanks I've tried a 32dd and it was too uncomfortable on the back. Getting a comfortable well fitting bra is such a pain but 34D seems best for me.
Thanks for everyone's suggestions, I've ordered one from pour moi so fingers crossed it's a good fit. So many you've mentioned have great options, lots of sites I haven't looks at before, so thanks everyoneStarStar
