I saw a girl on the tube with her 'I'm not a plastic bag' bag and it was new, but looked really tatty. The eyelets around the straps bad both come loose, and so the fabric was all frayed.

At topshop in Oxford St when you buy stuff they sometimes give you as a carrier bag a fabriccy style shopper and I use this all the time - totally free and is very handy.
