What do I keep or send back?

Here's my latest box of lovely things from Stitchfix.

White Superga Trainers

Crew floral tea dress

Blue Batwing jumper as modelled by Yours Truly

1960s print dress with wrap effect top - skirt is not wrap, and there is a belt.

Chiffon cover up.

I love the trainers but they slip ever so slightly on the heel. They are a 4.5 and I reckon the 4 would be too tight. I am usually a 5 so the stylist obviously knew what she was doing in sending me a 4.5. Any tips on preventing the slippage?

The jumper, as you can see, i am already wearing and I love it. The colour is gorgeous and it feels very soft and light.

The chiffon top. I dunno - are we ever going to get a summer? I feel like I would wear this over a vest or cami top (hate my upper arms) or over a swimsuit. Will we ever get the chance again though?

The two dresses - hmmmm. The Jemima dress is a crazy pattern. I know that. But I am still drawn to it. I think it's because it reminds me of a dress I wore in a play (used to be an actress) during a very happy period of my life.

The Crew dress. This is my least favourite but maybe I am not seeing it's good points? To be honest if I keep the rest I may as well keep this too as you get 20% discount for keeping everything. I think it's the peach bits I don't like. And it doesn't have pockets. But then neither does the other dress but this one feels more like it should have pockets.

What do we think? Advice on trainers in particular.

£25 off code for anyone who wants to give it a try for free.

Crew dress is my least favourite as well. I love the dress with the pink flowers and the blue jumper. I have no tips for the Supergas because I have the same problem with mine.

JoveWhenHeSawMyFannysFace · 24/05/2021 12:26

I wouldn’t keep something like trainers unless they fit perfectly. Different with “event” shoes where you can get away with things like gel heel patches, but for something you’re going to wear a lot they need to fit.

I’d definitely keep the jumper, don’t like either of the dresses particularly.

BusterGonad · 24/05/2021 12:35

You can get fabric cushion things to stick in the back of the trainers.
Is the first picture the top? I'm not keen on it but it's hard to see it. One link didn't work for me. I like the crew dress as I think it would be something that you put on for simple events like a pub lunch or school fate where you want to look nice but not dressy. The last dress that looks a bit 60s is really nice, if definitely wear it. I didn't see the skirt so can't judge. I'm not keen on the trainers but if you like them then go for it.

lockdownalli · 24/05/2021 12:52

Yes the first photo is the chiffon coverall. It's the sort of thing you can screw up in a ball and stuff in your bag and it will come out all perfect.

Sorry I meant the skirt of the 60s dress isn't wrap, just the top. There is no actual skirt, just the five items. I had requested white leather trainers to wear with dresses and cropped jeans/trousers so they are the right thing. They only slip a tiny bit. Actually I bet they wouldn't slip at all if I don't wear socks with them, and there's only me at home to suffer the resulting stench Smile I will try the heel cushion thingies maybe.

I love the jumper and the dress with big, pink floral print. The other print dress is a bit too ditsy for my tastes, but it's perfectly nice.

The coverall thing sounds useful, so I'd probably keep that too and maybe the trainers...if they fit alright. I find some trainers slip a little bit at the back and are still ok to wear, as feet swell a bit in the heat, especially if you're walking a lot. But if they're really too big you can't keep them as you'll just hurt your ankles of something.

Quite a nice haul op! I'm more excited about mine now (arriving Wednesday)!Smile

Haven't looked at the links yet, but am going to go against the grain and say return the jumper. The batwing sleeves don't do anything for your figure and make you look much larger on top than you are. Also not crazy about the relaxed neckline on it.

lockdownalli · 24/05/2021 13:32

I may be larger on top than you think I am Wine I am a 34H Grin

Perhaps I am kidding myself but I tend to think batwings help to disguise my ridiculous chest. I am a bit hopeless though....

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/05/2021 13:32

None of the items are my cup of tea, but they are all perfectly nice things if they are your style. The colour of the jumper is nice.

I wouldn't keep trainers that don't fit properly - can you try an insole in and see if that helps any? Uncomfortable shoes which pinch or rub are just the worst!

ThatIsMyPotato · 24/05/2021 13:55

The Crew dress is the only thing I like.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 24/05/2021 13:57

I know. I could tell you had a larger chest. That was my point. Bat wing sleeves will only exaggerate the larger chest and make that area look wider and larger than it already is.

Oh thanks so much. I always avoid polo necks or other high necks as I know they make me look very matronly, but I didn't realise the batwing was doing the same thing Blush

ThatIsMyPotato · 24/05/2021 14:02

The bat wing top is a nice colour but I agree with @WineGetsMeThroughIt it emphasises your chest rather than disguises it. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

JaneJeffer · 24/05/2021 14:56

I think the jumper is nice on you and emphasises your slim waistline!

Tehmina23 · 24/05/2021 16:21

I like the trainers.

Tehmina23 · 24/05/2021 16:22

Oh sorry just seen they don't fit

lindyloo57 · 24/05/2021 16:49

I agree about the bat wing make most people look bigger on top, it's like when people wear a loose tunic thinking it hide everything all it do is hang from the largest part ( boobs) and you look big all over.

lockdownalli · 24/05/2021 18:05

Well I just tried the trainers on again and they seem fine now. I laced them up differently - criss cross rather than over and over. I also pulled the laces tighter.

Obviously your feet swell during the day and I tried them on as soon as the postie delivered my box of lovely things.

So I have decided to keep the lot, even the Crew dress, as otherwise I am returning the dress for a couple of quid, despite the free delivery and returns.

So it's a 5/5 haul for me this time. Good luck with yours @MaryTheMiddle. Let us know how you get on.

@Judystilldreamsofhorses it's so funny I often think when I am doing my daily style shuffle (addicted) that I am rejecting some things in disgust that other people will love and vice versa. If I saw other people in those things however I would probably think they look great. I reject anything sleeveless, anything green, anything with checks and so on. Someone else is rejecting anything blue, anything floral, white trainers Grin

Where's the batwing top from please? The first link in your post didn't work for me.

CHISistoast · 24/05/2021 18:21

I don't like any of them, the crew dress is alright. I would like the trainers but not if they don't fit!

HostessTrolley · 24/05/2021 18:27

I got the same batwing jumper in a kind of peachy pink - not the kind of colour I’d usually wear but I wear it all the time and it washes really well. I’m envious of your blue one! Love the cut of the patterned dress

MaryTheMiddle · 24/05/2021 18:34

Thanks op! I'll report back Smile

The jumper is Editors Cut so is Stitchfix own brand. If you wanted one you can just state that's what you want when you place your order - I posted a £25 off link upthread and the jumper was £33.60 with the 20% discount.

Sorry op not mad on anything, actively dislike the wrap top though.

MerryChristmasToYou · 24/05/2021 19:47

Keep the jumper because you like it and send the others back.

I like the wrap-front dress,

I don't like the chiffon cover-up.
Supergas look nice but are not good for your feet as they don't have arch support.

lockdownalli · 24/05/2021 19:54

I can't wear anything with arches in as I have very flat feet. usually wear Converse. Bought some Gazelles once and felt like I was walking with table tennis balls in my trainers Grin

I have decided am definitely keeping it all. Happy with my haul.
