I bought some casual trousers during lockdown. They look OK. Allegedly reduced from 140 to 70
I wouldn't normally spend that much but as I wasn't spending I went for it
It it really a good brand ?

So I succumbed recently to one of their hundreds of sale emails and bought a dress and a top. Neither fitted so sent back only to get a gift card instead of a refund. No mention of no refunds on their sale emails, its hidden in the returns section of their website so now I'm £80 down because I don't want to order anything else. I'm sure its against distance selling regulations. Really pissed off and wish I'd looked at the reviews first.

Bought some bottoms a couple of weeks ago - can’t remember what they’re called . Really pleased with the leg length options and pleased with the quality and fit.

But, washed once on the hand wash cycle on the machine and the fabric has pilled up horribly.

LucysSkyDiamonds · 01/06/2021 20:44

I have a skirt and jacket that I love and a pair of culottes that I've fallen out of love with as I wore them to death. Don't particularly like any of the other current stock. Iirc they manufacture in Europe which accounts for some of the higher price.

Lampan · 03/06/2021 06:33

@XiCi that’s terrible! Definitely push for a refund. I agree it must be against distance selling regs, I also think it’s illegal to mislead customers by telling them they can’t have a refund etc - therefore it’s potentially illegal that they have said gift cards only and no refund?

XiCi · 03/06/2021 08:24

Thanks Lampan. After a lot of to-oing and fro-ing via email they have now refunded me after I told them I was raising a chargeback at my bank as it was against distance selling regs. It took a lot of determination to get it back though and I won't be buying from them again. They bombard you with these 'private sale' emails but they don't mentionin the emails there are no refunds on anything you buy.

Hi all I'm new here and first post. Please be gentle with me.

I have been lusting after the rock n roll scarf for ages but have been reluctant to buy as it is pretty expensive for a scarf. Does anyone have it and can lett me know whether it is worth the money?

goose1964 · 04/09/2021 14:34

www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/consumer-contracts-regulations-ajWHC8m21cAk is a great site you should get a refund .

I've got one, I don't think I've ever worn it though, so that might tell you something!

Not good then? I noticed on the site when it you get to checkout it give you the option of adding a tip. Does anyone do this. I'm all for tipping low paid workers and industries and that haave suffered duing covid, but an online retailer. Is it just me or is this taking the p?

MissTheobald · 05/09/2021 10:30

A tip Shock I've never seen this on a clothing retailer's website. Who would it go to, I wonder?

There are a couple of long threads on this board about the awfulness of S&S customer service, difficulty getting a refund etc.

SallyOMalley · 05/09/2021 10:38

I think I commented on the other thread but for the record, I bought some Camden pants. I was really disappointed in the quality for the money, and the fit was very strange and (for me) very unflattering.

I did manage to get a refund, but only after going round in circles on the website and making several calls to customer services. It was just too much hassle.

The advertising suggests stylish, top end stuff but IMHO the reality and the experience is anything but. I won't be shopping there again.

PinkTonic · 05/09/2021 10:41

I’ve got the Finsbury pants. They’re ok for what they are. I paid for express delivery and they took several days to dispatch so I emailed and they refunded my delivery. Probably won’t bother with them again.

DomingoinLittleOakley · 05/09/2021 10:44

Oh no! I'm waiting for a pair of Runway trousers (no I will not call them 'pants'), and now I'm worried about getting a refund before they've even arrived!

Lampan · 05/09/2021 11:01

@Ladyblahblah77 the scarf is described as if it’s wool and alpaca, look at the actual material composition on the description and the if barely contains any wool or alpaca. Far too much money for a scarf made mostly of acrylic and polyester imo
Also the ‘tip’ idea is atrocious and would put me off regardless. It means they know someone isn’t being paid a fair wage.

I think, for me, it's the fabric that's the issue with the scarf. It's quite bulky and I don't need extra bulk so limits what I can wear it with.
Ladyblahblah77 · 05/09/2021 11:10

I'm tempted to buy it and return if I don't like it but the reviews regarding refunds does not inspire me with confidence.

irresistibleoverwhelm · 05/09/2021 11:18

I’ve got a couple of nice things from there - especially tops - but the jersey Greenwich skirt I bought is flimsy and the stitching started pulling and ripping with hardly any wear which is a huge disappointment.

Ladyblahblah77 · 05/09/2021 11:22

@Lampan yes I did notice the largely polyester and acrylic content. I actually did a google search for cashmere scarf which is how I found it so I was surprised there is so little wool in it. Your probably right about them knowing that staff are not getting a fair wage, and much as I sympathise I will not be tipping an online retailer when there are so many other more deserving businessess.

Ladyblahblah77 · 05/09/2021 12:36

Thank you for all your replies. I think I will give the scarf a miss for now. It really does not sound good.

RenGreen · 08/01/2022 11:14

Yes I chased and feel they wouldn’t have refunded me if I didn’t chase
