SHould you deff become a blond when you go white?

I am rather white and the highlights on my hair have been getting lighter and lighter over th elast few years. I was pretty much blonde.

New hairdresser today. Recommended I go dark (original sort of colour for me). And now I am dark! And I'm scared.

Will regrowth be awful? Have you done this?

Gonna need pictures Pointy......

oooooh, pics please !
my mum started going grey in her late twenties, and started colouring her hair.. as her grey got lighter , she had it coloured lighter, so she was blonde for a good long while

however, she took the decision to grow out the blonde and has gone white, and has had it cut into a really sleek bob and grown her fringe out

i thikn she looks marvellous

what colour are your eyebrows?

pointydog · 17/11/2007 16:25

yeah, I know pictures are really needed. But I don't do pictures. The thread will prob die a death. Just womndered if a whitehead had ever got dyed dark instead of blond and it didn't end up looking screamingly awful

right, do you like your hair? if not, it doesn;t matter what anyone else does . you need hair you like !

pointydog · 17/11/2007 16:27

my eyebrows are very dark, black really.

I like the cut. I quite like being dark. I am worried that the regrowth will be horrendous.

I don;t know if the young hairdresser really understood my problem.

If the colour goes fine with youir skin tone (doesn't make you look too pale or washed out) then so long as you keep on top of the regrowth and as long as you like the colour obviously, there's no problem.

foxinsocks · 17/11/2007 16:34

friend of mine who has a lot of white/grey has her hair died sort of auburn. It looks fab on her (and I bet it looks good on you, esp with your dark eyebrows) but I must admit, once the regrowth starts, she has to really keep an eye on it because the white/grey that comes through really stands out at the roots iyswim.

It's not the sort of thing that makes me think omg though. It just makes me think what a PITA to have to deal with the regrowth iyswim.

pointydog · 17/11/2007 16:34

hmm. ok. I might have to stump up Even More cash for hair then. I can live with that. She has made it rather glossy

imo pale roots on dark hair are far more noticable and odd looking than dark roots on a blonde, so I think you will have to be really strict with getting the roots done on time.

pointydog · 17/11/2007 16:35

yeah, that's what worries me. dark hair, white roots. ach, I'll see how it goes

she gets that stuff from Boots where you can touch up the roots I think. Have no idea what it is called but you can get stuff for it.

pointydog · 17/11/2007 16:39

hmmmmm. not done it myself for many years.

I think I might regret this

yes, you will have to be so good about keeping your roots under cover...
