9 year old getting blackheads on nose. Any face wash recs?

Any ideas for face wash etc for my 9 year old? Think the blackheads are just clogged skin, there are no health issues we know of. She is getting a bit self conscious though.

We use spots and stripes, quite expensive but designed for younger skin.

Thanks @Martinisarebetterdirty will order some

Either Body Shop Tea Tree face wash or Body Shop Lemon face wash. Both are really effective but very gentle on skin. Also, a Muslin face cloth too.

We've just got spots and stripes too - it smells lovely and seems to be helping my son's nose where wearing a mask has been causing his almost teenage skin to get worse.

I used to use a very mild olive oil soap and that helped my skin a lot.

Can you remove them or does it hurt if you try that? Have to be very careful but steaming and removing might be helpful so they don't feel so self conscious.

Another recommendation of body shop tea tree. Bought it was dd10 & her skin's been much clearer since when she actually "remembers" to use it

I'd use a salicylic acid toner after cleansing. The Garnier organic Thyme one is nice. Just put some on a cotton pad and swipe it over the affected area.

goteam · 22/05/2021 08:24

Thanks, will try the tea tree oil wash too. I did swipe a bit of tea tree oil (the blended oil not neat) over with a cotton wool pad after washing her face yesterday. I tried removing them but DD understandably hates it. I did get one out though yesterday! Will try the salycilic acid too. To be honest I still get the odd spot so if they don't work for DD I will just use them myself.

A warm soft face cloth in little circles, with a couple of drops of sunflower oil on it. At bed time. That should loosen up the blockages. And help stop further ones. As blackheads are trapped oil. So if the sebum can flow then the blackheads won't form.

goteam · 22/05/2021 20:42

Thanks for the tip @Howzaboutye will give it a try

Are they actual blackheads or just normal sebaceous filaments?
Pic added!

Also try a clay based mask to draw out impurities
Lots of brands do them

Howzaboutye · 23/05/2021 08:56

But there are no impurities in your skin. It's just sebum that is trapped. It needs to flow. Did you know it's natural sunscreen? That's why you should only wash your face at night. By the morning your skin has been repairing and protecting itself. Only splash with water and add to it (SPF).
Nothing harsh for young skin is required.

Salicylic acid is definitely what you want.

Either in a toner or in a cleanser - neutrogena do some good ones.

wheresmymojo · 23/05/2021 09:50

FYI - because of the word 'acid' it sounds harsh but it isn't!

goteam · 23/05/2021 13:48

@QueenPaw definitely blackheads. They are raised. I think I have some salycilic acid of my own so will try that, thanks @wheresmymojo
