...in a hotel?

I've forgotten how to dress unless it's loungewear it seems Grin

there was a thread about this recently, someone asking if what they had chosen was fancy enough, so you might find good advice on there too.

I would go for a nice dress and some impractical heels - if you are sitting the whole time then being able to walk doesn't matter. Some people would say it's over dressed, but I enjoy getting dressed up, especially after lockdown, it's nice to have a reason to be extra. I got this dress in lockdown last year, and haven't given it an outing yet. So maybe this. But I often like a shorter dresses. www.asos.com/asos-edition/asos-edition-tiered-midi-dress-in-mono-organza-check/prd/14268364?custref=12081478&affid=25416&channelref=email&orderref=527046722

For a proper afternoon tea, the most important factor is the elasticated waistband.

Look at Ganni or Reformation for inspiration. M&S for great cheap midi dresses. Net a porter is full of perfect tea dresses. I think blue striped shirt dress and a wicker bag and you simply cannot go wrong! Or a floral one.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 16/05/2021 15:35

Probably a midi dress, nice make up. Shoes would depend on whether I had to walk a lot or not.

I’d wear wide leg trousers with a silk shirt and flat shoes. I’d probably go for that kind of smart 70s look (using Jenna Coleman from The Serpent as inspiration!). That’s if you prefer trousers to dresses.

SummaLuvin · 16/05/2021 15:40

@stealingbeauty I stumbled upon these shortly after watching The Serpent and bought them 95% sure I would send them back but I love them!! Very flattering in the buttock area. I know you weren't asking for recommendations but I just adore them. www.sezane.com/en/product/martin-trousers/chambray

Those are so nice! I’d love to get carried away on the Sezanne website!

I bought a dress very similar to the one below recently - they don;t have exactly the same one anymore. I haven't been anywhere to wear mine yet but it looks really nice on and I think it would be perfect for an afternoon tea.

Okay I feel slightly more panicked now and am realising I am so far from stylish it’s ridiculous.

So I have a nice midi dress, it’s kind of lemon floral but unsure what shoes or jacket I would put with it - the weather isn’t going to be great so was going to go with trousers instead.

Wide leg trousers look awful on me as I’m short. I’ve got some patterned cigarette trousers that could work with a white silk shirt possibly, but I don’t have one.

Im a jeans and Breton girl normally so feel completely out of my depth!

Linen trousers suits are in. Bright colours too! Or an ombré jumper with a pleated midi skirt. Plenty around.
