Hair appt next week & would appreciate some advice (pics)

Evening, don't post very often (if at all) but do appreciate reading through all the threads on S&B and the great advice given.
I have a hair appt next week and I am dreading it as I have no idea if what I want is doable.
Natural hair colour is a dark brown but am probably over 80% grey at this point.
Current hair colour/(non)style was an attempt to avoid the inevitable but as the last couple of years or so have gone on I've realised I want to somehow embrace the grey & bring it through.
I'm ok with maintenance but do not want to do the grow it out stage.
So really what I need to know is would it be easy/possible to go from current pic to something along the lines of the other 2 pics?

If anybody could advise or even have alternative ideas I'd really appreciate it - just want to be armed for next week. Thanks

Those hairstyles are heavily styled and probably are likely to involve a lot of product and tonging.

The colour of your hair looks ok in the photo.

I think you probably need some good advice from a stylist / colourist. I think going to grey blond streaks is possible, but needs professional advice.
Your hair looks ok, there’s no ‘line’ like I get when my hair grows- have you thought of a really good cut to take some length off? then take it from there.

  1. If you’ve been using box dye, you’ll need to have a strand test to see if professional colour (bleach as that’s what you’ll need to lift to that blonde) will react well with it.
  1. As pp said, those photos are really heavily styled. Is that the style you want or just colour reference?
  1. Grey hair is usually quite resistant to colour, please bare in mind it may not cover as well as you’re hoping.
  1. Those colours are definitely achievable, but it may take a couple of appointments, a lot of colour and even more money! The upkeep is a bit of a ball ache too, though worth it because blonde will hide the grey growing out a lot better than a dark colour.

Hope all this helps x

To be honest, I’m not sure. Essentially what you’re asking for is all of your dark hair to be taken to blonde, and then get your root area darkened too, to match those photos.

I do think it would be high maintenance.

Your hairdresser would likely recommend a full head of highlights. After multiple appointments, your lengths would become blonde, but not at the start. You may have an awkward in-between colour to begin with.

Thanks @ILoveShula completely agree re them being heavily styled & honestly the only way I could get my hair styled that way without burning the head off myself is in the hairdressers :)

It's the colours in the pics I'm focusing on really. Current colour doesn't 'sit' right with me and really don't want to be talked into the same again.
Though I guess I could just start with a decent cut and leave colour for a few more weeks.

I think a messy Bob with a fringe would be good. Fringes seem to make us look younger. If that's your plan... go for it

Thanks all, really do appreciate the feedback.

@Waterfallgirl the first 2 pics here are styles I've had before & were easily managed so am thinking along these again.

@TessTackle that all does really help thanks & yes it all is a complete ball ache :) My hairdresser is really lovely but if I can go in confident/prepared that I'm not asking the impossible it will be worth it.
@wingsnthat I think I may actually be at that awkward stage already The 3rd pic is my hair colour from approx 2 years ago. I have had the colour lightened already via highlights and then once a month for the last 3 have put a semi on the roots.
