Found out yesterday that DH has been shortlisted for an award related to his work (scientific research) and the award ceremony is in December in London. There will be photographers and a media presence plus 100s of people in attendence.

DH will be wearing a dark suit (probably navy). I suggested to him that I wear my lemon suit with purple shoes. He looked horrified. Clearly I'm clueless when it comes to events like this (this is our first) so I would be grateful for any advice on outfits/shoes.

I'm a size 12, 5'3", light brown skin and my hair is currently chestnut brown clour (shoulder length).

TIA

sorry but rofl at lemon suit

No style guru, I'm afraid but when I had a wedding I went to Jigsaw and the staff there gave me so much advice. They were helpful in Monsoon also. Things I would never have thought suited me. Bought something they recommended then took it back and got cheaper alternative. Hope it helps.

is there a dress code? can you visit shops, which ones? budget?

spokette · 15/11/2007 09:00

Ha, ha fishie - fortunately my lemon suit is more, erm, stylish!

No idea of dress code, don't really want to spend more than £100 on dress/outfit. I had heard that Monsoon do nice stuff but have never visited so might be worth a visit. Never heard of Jigsaw I'm afraid (can you tell I know nothing about fashion).

I love this one. I never shop in M&S either - I think it is time I expanded my horizon and updated my wardrobe!

Being 5'3" that dress will probably swamp me though but definitely worth a try.

Thanks Fishie.

oliveoil · 15/11/2007 09:37

that black one from Monsoon naily linked to

perfecto

oliveoil · 15/11/2007 09:37

you could always add bright shoes, bag etc to jazz it up

spokette · 15/11/2007 09:41

Yes you are right. I need to remember that photographers will be there and if DH wins, there will be lots and lots of photographs taken.

What colour shoes would you wear with that black dress? What about accessories?

Oh gosh, can't believe how clueless I am!
