Your in your early forties... where do you shop?

Size 14 apple, senior role in a young, creative company (trendy, smartish, casual), where do you shop?

I'be just sent back a huge mixed brand haul from ASOS, all synthetic, thin crap. Most of my work wear is Cos which is less than flattering for an apple. The French brands I like aren't designed for the large of shoulder or bust and lots of brands are just too 'officey' I need some inspiration desperately!

I like mint velvet, & other stories, Hobbs, lk Bennett for example

LaMariposa · 07/05/2021 16:58

SeaSalt, Boden, Next

UniBallEye · 07/05/2021 17:01

I'm a bit older than you, I'm 5ft 10" and size 12 /14 but tend towards apple shape if I don't watch it. I work in creative sector (advertising)
I buy from Sezane, Whistles, Sandro, Jigsaw, The Kooples and some COS
I am very selective with shapes and fabric though and stay clear of volume and lots of patterns

For work I tend to wear things like tailored wool trousers with a silk top and a jersey blazer. I only wear flat shoes to work - trainers (sometimes), brogues, chelsea boots, ankle boots

rjacksmiss · 07/05/2021 17:03

Reiss ❤️

BrownEyedGirl80 · 07/05/2021 17:09

River island, asos,selfridges,usc

JoanDarc · 07/05/2021 17:44

Reiss, which is my go to for most clothes, for work I love the silk vests which I wear under a blazer, their tailoring is also excellent. Mix of other brands including Massimo Dutti, Gap, trousers from Hobbs.

Xztop · 07/05/2021 18:13

I'm 42, I dont work in an office and am in denial about my age. I shop in primark, new look, Top Shop and River Island

TableNiner · 07/05/2021 18:39

I can't work out where to shop and am on no new clothes ban anyway. I really think the future might be eBay/charity shops as clothing quality has dropped so badly even just in the last 2-3 years. Spending more doesn't guarantee quality.

I quite like the look of Pure Collection (but have never actually bought anything) and have most recently (apart from Ebay) bought from La Redoute, Lee (jeans), Vero Moda, Mango and Esprit.

Nataliafalka · 07/05/2021 18:40

M&S H&M and ASOS own brand.

Blueberryblueberry · 07/05/2021 19:00

I'm a bit younger but fat Face, h and m, Sainsbury's is ok for some work stuff (currently working at home so not wearing half my wardrobe), few bits from hush, Boden (sorry all a bit Mumsnet) and basically a selection of hareem trousers from Amazon and dungarees from Lucy and yak (the last two may not be your style 😂) knitwear from gap

Blueberryblueberry · 07/05/2021 19:01

Basics (plain tops/vests and things) from m&s and Primark - occasionally pick up the odd other thing there too

MindBodyChocolate · 07/05/2021 19:05

& other stories? Creative vibe but maybe a few more options for you than Cos? Would Toast be ok or not right for your work environment?

knackeredmumoftwo · 07/05/2021 19:06

Oliver Bonas too

whenwillthemadnessend · 07/05/2021 19:07

I'm 50 but for the last ten years my staples have been
Dorothy Perkins
Sainsbos TU
H&M
A little bit new look
A little bit charity shop
Oasis
Fat face

soundsystem · 07/05/2021 19:32

& Other Stories, Arket, Monki

I'm the same size and shape as you, and do a similar role. I'm late 30s

MaddieElla · 07/05/2021 19:33

Karen Millen, Ted Baker. Coast occasionally.

Miseryisabutterfly · 07/05/2021 19:37

I am late 30s and shop at Cos, & other stories and Zara.

JoanDarc · 07/05/2021 20:04

Those of you that buy from & other stories, is there some black magic around finding your size in stock? I browse periodically on &OS website based on recs from this board but have yet to click on an item and ever see my size in stock, most of the time only one or a couple of sizes showing! It’s so frustrating!

PlainJaneSuperbrainthe2nd · 07/05/2021 20:08

Hush, Zara, H&M, Mint Velvet, Me + Em, Baukjen

Sprite999 · 07/05/2021 20:11

In reality Next, New Look, George, H&M, Oasis, Tu. In my ideal world Mint Velvet, Toast, Hush, Reiss (hopefully when weight is stable post baby, I'll invest in fewer items from those shops!).

Miseryisabutterfly · 07/05/2021 20:16

@JoanDarc I’ve never had that issue. Maybe it’s because they’re popular items (if you’ve seen them here first). Are you signed up to their newsletter? I usually find if there’s something that catches my eye there it’ll be available for a few days at least.

Biscoffontoast · 07/05/2021 20:20

I’m 41:

Hobbs
Jigsaw
MaxMara (normally Weekend line)
