Tubing Mascaras

I've read that tubing mascaras are pretty much smudge proof but haven't tried them. Can you recommend your favourites please?

I like the Boots Number 7 one, but I can't compare it to any others as that's the only one I've tried. It really stays on well.

ouchmyfeet · 30/04/2021 21:32

Clinique lash power for me, only one I've found that comes in brown.

Eyeko lash alert is also good:

Eyeko Rock Out for me, great mascara and doesn't budge

TheChosenTwo · 30/04/2021 22:16

I love the hourglass one, it never flakes and I don’t go in with multiple layers so it still looks quite natural (I know everyone has different mascara preferences but I don’t like clumping ones, I prefer them to be separate and defined which this one does perfectly for me). Doesn’t smudge or budge, stays exactly where I put it until I come to take it off again.

sweatpantsofdefeat · 30/04/2021 22:59

I love, love, love MAC Extended Play mascara, great thin brush, doesn't clump, really lengthening and doesn't flake or smudge.

Didn't get on with the No. 7 one at all, crappy brush, irritated my eyes and flakes.

FunnyWonder · 01/05/2021 00:26

I have been using Maybelline Snapscara and find it pretty good. It's not expensive, so might be a good way of trying out the idea without spending too much.

Ruthietuthie · 01/05/2021 03:16

Another Clinique lash-power addict here. I have really watery eyes, plus, apparently greasy eye-lids, so ALL mascaras smudge on me, even supposedly waterproof ones. Lash Power doesn't - it is the only one that doesn't leave me looking like a panda.

sanfranfibber · 01/05/2021 03:59

I use the Estée Lauder one. Love that it comes off so easily with water at the end of the day and while no smudging, I do find it flakes a lot.

Rayna37 · 01/05/2021 04:20

I think the Estée Lauder Double Wear one is the best. Clinique Lash power is almost but not quite as good. I also recently tried the new Victoria Beckham Future Lash one but I'm not thrilled with it, especially for the price. Bit clumpy and I don't like a curved brush, though looks good once on. I really need to stop getting sidetracked in the hope of something new and marvellous and just buy the Double Wear!

partyatthepalace · 01/05/2021 06:58

Clinique - all good

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 01/05/2021 08:28

I remember asking an assistant in the Clinique section of Jenners which mascaras were tubing, and she had no idea what I was talking about - this was a few years ago, but come on!

neilmomareglas · 01/05/2021 09:10

I was so disappointed with the Kevin Aucoin Volume mascara.
It cost a fortune and was just meh.
No competition for Dior's latest one, Chanel Le Volume or a cheapy Essence one.
I'm not sure any if them are tubing though.

ILikeMango · 01/05/2021 09:26

I love Blinc. No smudging and it stays put all day. At first I didn’t understand how to remove it but I realized that 20 seconds of warm water and gentle rubbing makes them slide off. I used to buy Blinc at Sephora but I don’t know if they still carry it.

ILikeMango · 01/05/2021 09:41

Just checked and you can get Blinc on Amazon. It’s £21.50 but I promise it’s worth it. It’s got a small learning curve but the most important thing is to use one coat of Blinc only. When you apply just keep swiping it over your lashes to get your desired effect and it won’t clump up but once it is dry don’t add more.
It’s more of an everyday mascara than a big night out mascara but you can actually put other mascara on underneath and finish off with Blinc. The “base” mascara may smudge a bit by the end of the night but way less than it woiod on its own. Just make sure to put Blinc on last. Also when you are applying Blinc

Seaoftroubles · 01/05/2021 09:52

Thanks everyone, lots of choice there, but why oh why don't brands specify they are tubing mascaras? Think l will try the L'Oréal to begin with as not too expensive and see how l get on with it.

B. lengthening mascara at Superdrug. Used Clinique, KA and Estée Lauder but like this the best and it’s cheaper!

m0therofdragons · 01/05/2021 14:16

I love the No7 one and use a make up cloth and water to remove (those cloths are really magical)

ouchmyfeet · 05/05/2021 12:47

I bought the L'Oréal double ended one after reading this thread and it's fab. Might be the end of Clinique lash power for me

onemouseplace · 05/05/2021 12:51

I'm a new convert to tubing mascaras - I've been using the Clinique Lash Power one for the last couple of weeks and it appears to be bomb proof (on me anyway) even surviving a long, windy walk with watering eyes.

I'm not that keen on the brush though, so I may experiment with a couple of other ones.

AlexaNeverListens · 05/05/2021 13:45

Clinique Lash Power for me too!

Deathraystare · 05/05/2021 14:12

How can you tell if a mascara is tubing?

I only know if some mumsnetter mentions the fact! Usually after I have tried to remove the mascara the usual way and it goes all itty bitty and I think rubbish mascara!

ApplyWithin · 05/05/2021 14:36

Kevyn Aucoin, the volume one in the red tube. Zero smudging - I never need eye makeup remover.

PlumpAndDeliciousFatcat · 05/05/2021 14:55

Glossier.

JemimaMuddledUp · 05/05/2021 19:25

I've only tried the No7 one and didn't get on with it - I had the spiders leg problem with little bits flaking off by the end of the day.

SigrunGard · 05/05/2021 19:29

@ouchmyfeet - great isn’t it? Especially at the price!

My eyes got complimented yesterday- I was asked if I’d had my lashes done but this mascara was the only thing on my eyes 😁
