What to wear to Bristol city wedding (guest)

Any suggestions for an outfit? Summer Day time registry office with small guest list. Restaurant afterwards, no evening do as far as I’m aware. Haven’t dressed up in ages (obvs) and everything in my wardrobe seems wrong or too black/navy. I also don’t know Bristol well - so not sure how smart but bride is probably not wearing full length.

Could I wear trousers? Or should it be a dress? My husband reckons no need for a hat

The register office is in a nice old part of town. I'd wear a dress personally. Shoes you can walk over cobbles in :)

Oh that’s good to know (cobbles). Thanks!

When DD got married, in the registry office I wore a purple swing dress and silver used Strappy sandals. I wouldn't have been overdressed as a guest to a smarter wedding . Do you know what restaurant the receptions going to be in because how dressy you'll need to be is dependent on that
