Which Eco Gel (or other product) for 3b curly hair?

As in the title, which Eco gel would you recommend for 3b curly hair (caucasian ringletty curls)?

Boots Curl Creme has been out of stock for ages so I need to try something else. I like Umberto Gianni curl jelly which works well on my curls but Eco gel looks like it would be much more cost effective.

Olive, Argan, Curl & Wave, Krystal...there are too many choices! Which is your favourite if you have similar hair?

Would also be interest in any other products that work for this hair type.

I really like the olive oil (green) one. Thin it in your hands with water as it's quite gloopy!
Also like cantu custard, jessicurl spiralicious and treluxe gel

Just a note to say any gel is not a substitute for boots curl creme ( diehard fan here ). The curl creme is for styling , gel for hold . It just won't do the same thing . I get similar results to boots curl creme with mousse - either Pantene curl mousse or the umberto gianni one . With a gel on top .

Thanks QueenPaw, and thanks for the tip. I’ve come close to trying Cantu a few times but mixed reviews have stopped me.

Thanks for that Mooncats - I had no idea! I find the UG curl jelly great by itself but I guess that’s more than just a gel? I’d forgotten all about mousse - I used to use that many years ago, during my teenage years!

Pantene Gold Series Curl Cream Defining Pudding is surprisingly nice. I've used this along with the shampoo, conditioner and hydrating oil.

It's 3 for 2 in superdrug at the moment.

I’m a wavy, but my hair loves protein so I get though about a tub of eco gel a week Grin I always go with the olive oil one - it smells really nice and has a lovely light texture but a strong hold. It also scrunches out nicely. I sometimes use the pantene curl mousse underneath if i want extra hold.

Also seconding jessicurl spiralicious - more expensive though and eco does the job!

also, shameless plug for my favourite UK curly shopping website - naturalistic products (no affiliation, i’m just a fan girl!) They have a whole section of sample sizes here so you could try a couple of gels/creams and see what works:

I've heard good things about Boucleme:

OP- the mousses are cheap and cheerful and really do work as well for me as the curl creme . I have invested £££££ in other products and nothing comes close , the the Premise that you usually you get what you pay for with beauty products but I have found this not to be the case with cgm. I usually use the mousse and then the curl jelly over it and get great curls for days .

Thanks very much everyone, looks like I’m going to be trying a whole new routine!

I have 3a/b hair and love both Boucleme gel (the yellow bottle) and TIGI Curls Rock amplifier. I hardly ever use the Boots curl creme these days as both of them are more than up to the job. They dry into a nice cast that scrunches out easily but gives good hold.

gratedbeetroot · 20/04/2021 22:11

Thank you, I will add those to my list of things I want to try!

Bonus of Boots Curl Creme is that it’s so cheap. I use it day to day and save my UG curl jelly for days when I want it to look extra good, as I have very long thick hair and go through a lot of product which can get expensive.

What the bloody hell has happened to curl creme? Is it gone forever? Sad

So how do you do this, gel on when wet, creme/mousse after?

Girlintheframe · 21/04/2021 08:23

I second the Boucleme curl cream. I bought a trial size of it and really like it.

Just spend £20 on two new products, neither of which work for me.
Finding the right stuff for your hair is so expensive!
Never tried the Eco gel, think I will give it a go next time.

Bul21ia · 21/04/2021 08:24

You could try Cantu curling cream I think you would only need a small amount for your hair type OP.

gratedbeetroot · 21/04/2021 09:50

Thank you.

1990s, it seems like it as I’ve been checking for months with no luck :(

Soaking wet hair
Leave in conditioner
Followed by mousse or the boots curl
Creme
Gel
Is always the final product
And maybe a little oil after

Looks like the curl creme shortage is allegedly temporary
