I know my hair colour is very dated but do I have any other options?

I have an all over dark semi tint to cover my naturally mousy colour, with a few scattered blonde highlights at the top

If it's done right it's not at all stripey (the highlights need to be very fine) and the highlights soften the dark really nicely

But, I realise that this look is quite dated (especially if you factor in the side fringe) which I can accept as I'm 30s and not young and trendy, although I'm wondering about other options

It's not been touched since Nov due to lockdown and another month until my appointment so the fringe has grown out and colour faded to a more modern look, but I do miss the definition of the dark

I'm reluctant to have highlights through the lengths or balayage instead, because keeping bleach out of the lengths has allowed me to finally grow my hair to a reasonable length (the very top actually doesn't grow as long where it's been highlighted, but it doesn't show at all)

I suppose I could consider all over colour but done so that some of the lengths are naturally lighter if the colour isn't run through every time, but would I miss the scattered highlights? I do suspect that I'm the only woman left in the country asking for this style, but it does suit me

Could we see some pics please? It actually sounds nice to me but I'm probably not that fashionable Confused

I’ve grown my fringe out and have a centre parted choppy bob as of Friday.

Centre partings are the new thing according to my hairdresser. I’m kind of in love with my hairstyle for the first time ever.

Why not just have a few hand painted highlights through the mid-lengths and ends? It really shouldn't be breaking like that either. Mine has bleach highlights on the ends and is very shiny and healthy.

I would say go for balayage but not at Rush (referencing that other thread Grin)

OP you've literally described my hair, I have the shorter broken off top bits of highlighted hair too. My appointment is on May 7th. I haven't had colour for a year. I have only been able to grow the brown.
I am considering going all over brown, as although I love the blonde, those bits get absolutely wrecked. I am jealous of women with all over blonde. I have tried this and end up with short hair as it gets so bad. My hairdresser did suggest just having one blonde highlight on the very front, so when I look in the mirror I see blonde, but keep the rest brown, but I think that would look weird.
