Any other kiwis here?
Love style and beauty but many things not accessible here
I love Juliette Hogan, kowtow, cos.
I stalk trade me for favourite labels and wait for the sales!
I think kiwi fashion is great and some wonderful designers - I also think Juliette Hogan and similar labels cheaper here than equivalent in UK
Anybody keen to join me in swapping tips and celebrating?

Watching as I'm waiting to emigrate to NZ and would love to know what the brands to look out for are!

Fantail · 19/04/2021 05:10

Kilt is a big favourite for me. Kowtow is too oversized for my body type, but if got two of their lovely Foundation cardigan jackets.

I’ve bought some lovely Juliette Hogan pieces off Trade Me. Paperbag Princess in Wellington sometimes have their pieces - including a beautiful blazer that I think I paid $30 for.

I also like Karen Walker and Kate Sylvester. Always lovely patterns.

I admire those labels you have mentioned @LunaTheCat and @Fantail but don't buy/wear them myself, with the exception of a couple of cos pieces (though I thought that Cos was an overseas brand).
I am in my 60s and consider myself stylish but prefer not to spend the $$$ necessary for designer garments. Having said that, between Trade Me and my favourite recycle stores in Auckland, I have bought some fabulous pieces at steal prices over the years.

Fantail · 19/04/2021 06:38

@SueblueNZ I definitely can’t afford them new either. Only when I pick them up pre-loved!

I thought Cos was owned by H&M.

SueblueNZ · 19/04/2021 08:20

@Fantail. But H&M is a global brand started in Sweden so they are not NZ designs.

I quite like Moochi, Ruby and Storm.

If you're in Auckland, Moochi occasionally have big warehouse sales in Ponsonby - details are usually posted to their Facebook page. They started doing them online last year as well (probably thanks to COVID) so worth signing up to their email list.

LifeAfterBreastCancer · 19/04/2021 08:54

I lived there for a few years and found it an absolute fashion desert. Very little choice at mid price level and what was half decent was completely overpriced.
I think it's probably a bit better now but I would never put New Zealand and style in the same sentence.

SueblueNZ · 19/04/2021 09:07

You just did.

Kia ora tatou!

I really struggle with clothes here, generally limited choice and poor quality for the price. Then a few places like Witchery and Country Road are good quality and ok price, but just a bit dull. Like Kilt and. Storm and Flo & Frankie, and happy that Cos has now opened in Auckland.

I often buy online, used to use the John Lewis site as they have a lot of concessions, so it was a great portal into a number of shops, but they've stopped delivering to NZ!

I'm regularly in Australia (well not at the moment), and I make time to go shopping whenever I'm over there.

Shoes are the thing I struggle with most.

I love juliette Hogan and kowtow! Really love Blak and moochi at the moment, country road for basics. For cheaper things, Max is really stepping it back up at the moment too. Twenty seven names has some nice things but lots of very loud things. You might like ingrid starnes or Maggie marilyn too?

LunaTheCat · 19/04/2021 10:56

I love moochi too - especially their pants.
Kowtow has changed a bit and now is completely oversized! - cos on steroids! - although I love their building block dresses.
I agree Max has improved.
Country Road and Trenary always look ok in the shop but the materially go baggy and pill and have given up on them.
