Clinique moisture surge intense- have I been ripped off?

Does anyone use clinique moisture surge "intense" and advise me whether the stuff inside should be pink gel, or white cream please?

I went to Debenhams yesterday and bought 50ml clinique moisture surge intense moisturiser. I picked it up from the clinique counter but non of the counters are staffed, you just take it off the shelf. It was 20% off as obviously Debenhams is closing down so everything was reduced.

The product was boxed and looked fine. I paid my £32 (for me this is a luxury item and that's v expensive for me but I see it as an occasional treat) and came home. This morning I've opened it and noticed it didn't have the plastic circle on the top of the cream that is usually in place. I had a bit left over of my old jar, the cream in my old jar is a pink coloured gel. The cream in the new jar is white cream! Does it sound like someone has someone tampered with this and put some cheap crap inside the jar?? Or is "intense" always like this? My old jar says moisture surge, but not intense.

Thanks.

They are 2 different products.
Moisture surge - pink gel
Moisture surge intense - white cream

I use the pink gel one.
I bought the intense once by accident, it is a heavy white cream. I found it way to greasy and heavy.

Not helpful but Simple do a dupe which is almost exactly the same as the pink gel moisture surge.

Thank you for your replies.

Xyzandabc I'm relieved to hear I haven't been ripped off but annoyed with myself for buying the wrong product. Also a bit annoyed at the two products having such similar names and looking the same! But I'll learn from my mistake ha ha.

Wizzbangfizz thank you for letting me know. I'll look out for this as I imagine it's much cheaper! Do you know the product name?

Aldi also do a dupe called moisture boost. £4.99 (I bought 6 Grin )

MyGrassIsBrowner · 13/04/2021 10:19

If you like the gel consistency I recommend Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel, you can buy it at Tesco! It's under £10 and it's amaaaaazing. I personally think Clinique is overrated. X

I'm glad you started this post, I'm always up for finding cheaper but equally good products! Some good ones to try here, thank you.

I brought the intense by mistake as well and it’s white and when on your skin quite greasy. I’ll continue to use it as a night cream as I turned 45 today but imagine anyone younger would find it too heavy even as a night cream.

I need to order the normal gel one now to try. Rather annoyed at myself as I’d been debating it for a while as I don’t usually use clinique products but have heard such good things and then got the wrong one.

ronswansonstache · 13/04/2021 10:40

OP I did exactly the same thing yesterday! Bought this set in boots thinking the moisturiser was my usual pink lotion but it is the white one. m.clinique.co.uk/product/14225/86043/just-arrived/gifts-sets/derm-pro-solutions-set-moisture-surge--for-intense-hydration

It is a bit heavier and not as nice.

It's not the first time this has happened with me with Clinique. Their Dramatically Different gel and lotion are very different products but in near identical packaging!

onthinice · 13/04/2021 10:41

Yes I'm very grateful for all the dupe recommendations too! Thanks everyone, I'll definitely try the ones mentioned.

Ah unicorn and ronswan it seems an easy and expensive mistake to make!

Happy birthday unicorn! I'm late thirties so think I will use this as a night cream and get one of the cheaper gel alternatives mentioned on here for day.

Thank you onthinice. It seems nice as a night cream. I put it on after my shower to give it time to sink in before getting into bed.
My skin does feel a lot more moisturised since using it.

londongirl12 · 13/04/2021 18:48

If it didn't have the white lid on it, I'd take it back. Who knows who's had their fingers in it Confused

Wizzbangfizz · 13/04/2021 22:02

It was this one - one of the beauty bloggers recommended it as a dupe - I've used it and quite like it
