Boot (?) socks

Do they still exist? I can't find any.

I think they were called boot socks. Fairly thick-knit socks, shorter than knee-high, but longer than ankle-high, and with the elastic at ankle height so that you could wear them with boots.

I need them for a pair of boots (Clarks Midnight Owl, but I can't find a link) that are leather but loose like short wellies.

boots are v nice, had spotted previously
But long socks with the elastic at ankle height? Do any of these look right?

Personally I wear long black or grey socks from M&S school uniform dept (v good value) with short boots.

Those are the boots. Very comfy to walk in as the toe curves up slightly.

Not the socks, though. Hiking socks are generally worn with a boot or shoe that laces up, so don't need the elastic around the ankle to keep them up, and are looser at the top so as not to constrict the leg. Also chunky on the foot to pad it. These were usually smooth-knit on the foot, then chunky rib up the leg. Deffo elasticated at ankle height rather than at the top of the sock.

I find knee-highs really uncomfortable.

in that case I don't think I've ever seen them...

smooth feet ribby ankles?

Nope.

Ahh, MrsB, you're clearly younger than me: I remember wearing these in my 20s - ie the late 80s!

I get all my boot socks from TK MAXX. Jasper Conran, Pringle, Hooch etc etc couple of pairs cost me about £4-5 on average....

Socks come up to just under the knee.... think you may get thicker types as well.
