I have a significant birthday coming up and I love jewellery so thinking i would like something new. I love gold and gemstones. I'm not into costume or plated jewellery so much anymore.

Can you please recommend some websites so I can indulge in some online browsing?

I love Liberty's jewellery hall and would love nothing more than a mooch around there but sadly it's not to be at the moment...

Thanks!

Etsy, but don't go for the cheapest stuff, go for the genuinely handmade items in silver or gold. You'll have to research the sellers to make sure they're genuine metalsmiths, usually you can check their instagrams etc.

I love Etsy but unfortunately in recent times it has been inundated with sellers selling stuff pretending it's handmade. You can't get genuine silver handmade earrings for £10! It's either not real or someone's being exploited somewhere.

Alison Moore here too.

I love Antique Gold Jewellery, l often Browse in a specialist Jewellers shop when I’m on Holiday in Yorkshire. I have got one very nice Solitare ring, reputed to have been made in the late 1800s. It’s very Chunky with Broad Shoulders and a ‘Brilliant Cut’ Diamond set in ‘Old Gold’ which has quite a pinkish tone to it.

DH believes it was originally a Gents Ring, but I’m unsure, simply because of the very small size of the band on it,
The only finger that l can wear it on comfortably is my little finger!

Thank you all, so many new sites to browse! Tomfoolery is very much my style so am delighted to have been introduced to that website.
I'm looking forward to a nice glass of wine over the weekend and a good browse!

Net a Porter is good for fine jewellery - I really like Brooke Gregson’s pieces (I think she is a US-based designer but you can buy some of her designs on NAP).

Other designers I like and who all have websites are Fope, Kiki McDonough, Annoushka, Roberto Coin, Marco Bicego and Ippolita.

When I’m feeling flush (or secondhand) - Cartier and Tiffany.

If you aren’t averse to buying preowned you can get some fantastic bargains. I’m a total magpie and have a huge collection of jewellery, however 95% was bought secondhand from the likes of Ebay, pawnbrokers etc.

If you google pre owned jewellery you will find sites like A C Silver, Gatsby, Laurelle, Mallard and Delans Jewels and lots of others. Lots of towns and cities have jewellers with pre owned stock.

For new, try Just Gems in Winchcombe, Glos.
