mabye try between layers dipping your nails into freezing cold ice water to make sure the coats underneath are fully set??

I'm the same. Do you wipe your nails over with nail varnish remover before you start, I think it helps remove any grease/dirt.

Toe nail varnish on the other hand lasts for weeks

DrN - me too......but i have found something thats quite good and certainly helps mine last a bit longer before the annoying chips start.

Its Sally Hansen - Insta-Dry Anti-Chip Top Coat - its in a red bottle and you can get it in Boots. I've also bought it in Sainsburys once too!

make sure the coats are dry between applications - bone dry - and always seal the edge of your nails ie run the top coat brush under the rim of your nail and then (and this is the difficult part) WAIT and WAIT and WAIT - even fast drying top coats need at least 45 minutes to be set fast. I am a nightmare for taking an hour to paint my nails then scuffing them 5 minutes later but waiting is the only way - I speak as a qualified beauty therapist and manicurist so I should know better than to rush it
