Perfumistas - can you recommend a perfume that smells like

St. Eval Sea Salt candles?! I just love the fragrance but they don't do it as a perfume annoyingly! According to St. Eval, the scent is "a unique blend of ozonic and citrus scents which are reminiscent of the ocean and the addition of mossy undertones evokes the sensation of fresh sea breezes."
I've ordered a sample of JM sea salt and wood sage to see if it comes close, and just searched Fragrantica by 'salt' and there is a dazzling array on there.
I'm a newbie to perfume buying so I thought I would ask the trusted veterans of MN!

When the shops open again, go & spend some time sampling some of the fragrances on your list, do a few then have a break, have a coffee or something then do a few more. Taking a break stops you from getting your nose overwhelmed.

Calvin Klein Reveal has those notes. It is discontinued but still available. Lasts a lot longer than Jo Malone too. I have it and it is lovely- and lasts.

Heeley Sel Marin
Jo Malone Wood sage and sea salt wotsit (buy the Perfume Parlour dupe though, don't waste money on a JM that will last 45 seconds. The PP dupe is great)

Bobbi Brown Beach. eBay usually still has a few knocking around. It's described somewhere as wet seaweed (it's definitely not suntan cream like Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess) but it's actually quite nice.

Thank you! A few more samples to order..!

No idea. But St Eval Sea Salt is great! Smile

Maison Margiela Replica Beach Walk is salty and lovely

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 08/04/2021 18:06

Love this candle! Heeley Sel Marin is the closest match from the suggestions here. JM Wood Sage has a sweet note to me, almost chocolatey, and Beach Walk also has slight sweetness. I own all three and really like each one, but I definitely think HSM is your best bet.

I think so too Judy. (it's me, Piam!) I'm burning St Eval at the moment and it's sent me rummaging in my salty ozone sample box!

BobGalaxy · 08/04/2021 19:09

That's good to know @Judystilldreamsofhorses! I've got that one in my basket. I really like the sound of it, so hopefully it'll hit the St Eval spot!

Please let me know if you come across any similar ones in your rummaging @Geamhradh!

I really like Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt.

Not sure about the candle, but the Jenny Glow dupe of Wood Sage & Sea Salt is also spot on and a fraction of the price (30mls is currently £7 at Notino.co.Uk).

Enjoy - they have lots of lovely ones!

Try Inis Energy of the sea. It's a lovely ocean scent and under £30.

udnertheradar · 08/04/2021 23:26

Samphire by Laboratory Perfumes

This sounds just right @MissBattleaxe! Thanks. Can't seem to find a sample online but may be worth buying one of the 15ml ones. My JM sea salt arrived today and although lovely, I can barely smell it a few hours later. It's also more vanilla-y and fruity than I expected.

With your samples, see if other people can smell them. Sometimes you might not be able to smell a perfume after a few hours but others still can. I’ve read somewhere that this is a good sign that the perfume suits your skin. This might be a load of old bollocks of course!
But I’ve had long lasting perfumes that people can smell on me, that i can’t smell on myself.
