Do you need a crop top over a sports bra?

Stupid q but when you buy one of the new crop style sports bras. Can you wear it as an actual top or do you need something over it??

I’ve put on a stone and want to buy a crop/legging ensemble to shame myself back into workouts until I can be seen in public in them without extreme muffin top! (Gone from 11st11 which I’m happy with to 12.11).

Example below:

I probably wouldn’t wear that one without a too over it due to the zip front - I’ve had one pop open before while running. And I’m only a C!

I have run in just a sports bra and shorts when it was really hot and there was no one around though (I don’t like people seeing my stomach so it needs to be quiet for me to go there). Lots of people do it on my Facebook running group, of all shapes and sizes. You can get some really nice sports bras in all sorts of colours. Just a question of how comfortable you feel doing it.

Well... my sports bra has light reflecting patterns on it so it’s clearly designed to be worn without being covered.

I wear it on its own when working out indoors but with a T-shirt if out in public (despite the fact that it covers more than any bikini top!).

With larger cups, most sports bras for higher impact I've had look more like sports bras than crop tops so I wear a top over them.

On the rare occasion I've found a crop top style, it's been appropriate for nothing more than a gentle yoga session and I would wear them on their own.

Thank you for those! Not to the gym, I have a t and leggings for that, it’s at home and in the garden or round the (very quiet) village but don’t want to offend the neighbours with my wobbly bits.

Mine is 32FF and has a kind of double layer effect so does look like a crop top. I’ve just ordered some new ones so I’ll have to see how they look......

I've got a couple of sports bras which look like bras IYSWIM and a couple that are patterned / obviously more substantial and look like tops.

So if I know it's a hot day and I'm running I choose a 'pretty' one so I can remove my vest when I get too warm.

But then I'm quite small chested so it's a bit different I guess.
