Ok I am not a hair person, I can't do any styles.
My hair is so long it hasn't been cut in about 6 years? It's just by my bum now it's that long.
I need a change I actually am starting to hate long hair now.

I have two styles, a bun or a low pony. I'm 27 and I need a change. I'm still wearing my hair, how I did in secondary school.
What do I do with it? I did like being ash blonde and full of highlights.

However I also love being dark I'm currently a faded browny red atm Envy.

I'm leaning torwards just getting it cut to my shoulders and then having like waves??? You can see I know nothing about hair.

This is a photo of it what it looks like recently.

Scribbled out my face as I had used a filter and I don't even look like that. Grin

It's also so thick, this is my hair after a day of washing and being out in humid heat.

Something like this but a little longer?

I personally like it.
I'd probably go for a deep conditioning treatment and get it cut just below my shoulder with long layers.
I'd keep the reddish-brown.

Ninkanink · 03/04/2021 12:13

Cut it to just past your shoulders to begin with. Once you’re used to that you can think about how you want to style it and whether or not you want to go shorter.

Ninkanink · 03/04/2021 12:14

I think the colour you’ve got now is beautiful and much nicer than ash blonde.

Spied · 03/04/2021 12:14

First pic but tad longer.
The second may be a lot of upkeep if you have thick, wavy hair.

LongHairDontCare38 · 03/04/2021 12:17

Is go a smudge darker & have it cut like this? But some waver irons maybe?

LongHairDontCare38 · 03/04/2021 12:17

*I'd go a smudge darker...

Grumblesigh · 03/04/2021 12:17

The first one would really suit your waves. I would cut it to above the shoulder, layered - will look amazing!

stressbandit · 03/04/2021 12:24

I like these ideas defo going for the chop then and see how I get on. It's the upkeep i hate also when I want highlights it's costing so much with this length.

Your first photo OP - shoulder length and waves. Gorgeous.

stressbandit · 03/04/2021 12:26

Would I need to buy any hair tools to get it proper like that though? I really should start investing in my hair more but I am just so lazy with it. I remember the days I couldn't leave the house without lashes on and a face of make up! Now I look more like Karen from eastenders.

If I go darker should I still keep the reddy tint to it? I use clairol I think it is 5N. I might have that wrong but it is a nice colour but it washes out really quick.

I think the colour looks like it suits your skin tone well so I would stick with it. DD had very long hair and she had it cut to just below her shoulders with some long layers and she uses her straighteners to create loose waves, it looks lovely and is a good in between before going too short.

LongHairDontCare38 · 03/04/2021 15:18

I ordered these recently & they're mega easy to use & leave my hair like the picture

Toni & Guy Deep Barrel Hair... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B013ETQJEO?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

£20 from Amazon

Girlintheframe · 03/04/2021 17:27

I really like the colour.

I agree you should get it chopped though. Long hair is nice if it's done into styles but you need time and practice to do that.

I would go shoulder length then buy products to help with waves. More of a tousled look.

Janegrey333 · 03/04/2021 18:53

That's far too long, at present.

MindBodyChocolate · 03/04/2021 19:39

The first pic you posted looks great. You’ve got a lovely wave in your hair that will look so cool shoulder length or long wavy Bob. I like the darker colour it is now perhaps with some warm balayage?

Allabouttheangles · 04/04/2021 01:59

I’d go mid length, long layers, dark and glossy. Paul Mitchell foaming pomade through it and a shine spray maybe and it’s be really sleek. You could keep the waves as is.

mooonstone · 04/04/2021 02:04

I don’t like the colour, sorry. It just looks like box dye because of the red tint on brown hair. Does it look really bright in the sun?

I would go for a more ashy colour, or more darker, or highlights, or properly red - I just wouldn’t keep it as is sorry

The cut is completely your choice

I really think you would benefit from a keratin smoothing treatment. It doesn’t straighten your hair, your hair will be the same texture but naturally less frizzy and more shiny. This will make the largest difference to your hair.

mooonstone · 04/04/2021 02:07

Your hair also won’t be impacted by humidity with the treatment

KirstenBlest · 04/04/2021 14:20

Don't go for the straignt one - you'll be fighting the waves.

I'd get a few inches lopped off the ends and ask for a consultation on different ways of wearing it up.

Elieza · 04/04/2021 19:33

If you get at least 8” lopped off, you can donate them to wigs for children with cancer charity. Just tell them at the hairdresser and they’ll put the hair into ponytails and chop it for you to take home.

And if you don’t like it you know it will grow and you’ve done something good Smile
