Anyone else have some lovely bags but uses pockets instead?

I have a collection of some really lovely bags and wallets, I went from a tote to a shoulder bag to a crossbody because I prefer to be handsfree, but got so irritated fighting with the crossbody strap every time I tried taking it off with a coat on, dancing around trying to unhook it from the underside of my hood I now just put my cards in a card holder shove my phone in my pocket and that's that.

I'd love to enjoy carrying a bag again but I carry so little I don't know what would work!

Bumbags. Yes really. Hands free without the cossbody straps and bigger than pockets but not so big that you end up carrying everyone else's shit.

Yep, just use pockets unless I'll need a rucksack for carrying shopping. I got fed up of the sore neck from a bag. I pared down what I was hauling round in bags anyway. I've got some lovely bags too!

No never use pockets unless on my coat. Either use DS's changing back or my cross body bag.

ThatsNotTheTeaHunty · 01/04/2021 20:11

Bag* definitely do not use DS's back Grin.

I used to always have a bag but in the last year of lockdowns I've started using pockets more. Well, specifically my parka pockets in autumn/winter. My bags were all part of looking stylish and needing lots of bits and bobs with me for every eventuality. Now I've given up on looking stylish and I'm never going further than the local park/shops so I just stuff keys, purse, phone and face mask into my pockets.
My handbags are all gathering dust.

Yes.I have quite a few bags but usually just use pockets, Use a backpack that looks like a schoolbag for shopping.

Rummikub · 01/04/2021 23:05

I stopped using a bag after I had caches. Just used the changing bag.
But once I didn’t need to take stuff for the children I just stuff my pockets- much simpler.

Yes. Used to always have a nice little handbag but stopped carrying one few years ago - just phone and cards now + emergency tenner. If I took one now I’d probably leave it somewhere by mistake! I do have a bag for work (teacher) but that has books and my lunch and pencil case in it - not really a handbag!

CheesyChipsOnWembleyWay · 02/04/2021 08:01

Yes. I love bags but loath actually taking them out. I tend to travel light so keys phone and a bit of cash is all I carry most of the time. I even resent carrying a purse sometimes.

GertrudeTheGreat · 02/04/2021 08:08

I'm not keen on handbags. I only have two as a result! One of them is summer only; a huge, Vivienne Westwood canvas thing. The other is a small, leather backpack from Kin at JL. I also have a bigger backpack for groceries. It's the right amount for me.

MrsKingfisher · 02/04/2021 09:07

I love bags I have some really lovely ones but I get so irritated having to cart it about when a card case, my keys and phone in my pockets do the job.

I suppose in normal times, you might have more to carry around, so it wouldn't seem so pointless? Laptop, make up etc maybe.

KirstenBlest · 03/04/2021 09:52

@MrsKingfisher, my thoughts too.
