Oh my gosh! The price of Clarks shoes.

I’ve relied on Clarks as a purveyor of uninteresting but reliable and reasonably priced footwear. Normally for work, sometimes for play. However, it appears that now they are purveyors of uninteresting but expensive shoes. A hundred quid for a pair of ordinary trainers! www.clarks.co.uk/Womens/Trainers/c/w21#page=1&pageSize=72&productIndex=26158970
Any ideas of other places to try for nice, affordable shoes?

When I used to buy from Clark’s I just always bought in the sales to make it better value.

You can also buy NIB on eBay which makes it much better value.

Ninkanink · 31/03/2021 11:21

(Sorry I know that doesn’t actually answer your question)

PickleASturgeon · 31/03/2021 15:50

I agree OP! Think they've lost the plot with their pricing.

There are actually a few things I quite like, but no way would I pay the full price.

I'm not really into trainers, but if I was going to spend £100 on a pair, don't think Clarks would be my first choice.

JC12345 · 31/03/2021 15:53

You can buy from Clark's outlet online which is much cheaper.

Bagelsandbrie · 31/03/2021 15:53

They’ve totally out priced themselves. It’s ridiculous. The Clark’s outlet site (if you google Clark’s outlet it will come up) is the only place I bother to buy them from now.

Bagelsandbrie · 31/03/2021 15:54

Cross posted with others saying the same!

IHaveBrilloHair · 31/03/2021 15:55

I wouldn't be seen dead in those either.

FreshFaceTime · 31/03/2021 15:59

Outlet might be cheaper but those trainers are so crap

LivingDeadGirlUK · 31/03/2021 17:42

I don't really like those trainers at all, a general look on the website and they do seem quite expensive. I used to shop at the outlet store a fair bit though and the Clarks shoes and boots I have are still going strong. They are real leather and this year I put new insoles in and had the boots reheeled, they are like new again. Can't fault the quality at all.

leccybill · 03/04/2021 10:15

I think Clarks is the next high-street victim. They're hanging by a thread.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 03/04/2021 10:20

Clarks are like M and S. Once the purveyor of 'sensible shoes' they tried to become trendy. They will lose their solid customer base and won't attract the market they are looking for, and in the end they will disappear.
Either that or they will have to open food halls.Grin
