what colour nail polish do you recommend for this autumn/winter?

I'm going to make a real effort this autumn to wear a coloured polish on my finger nails.
I don't usually bother these days because of lack of time to deal with chipsetc. But I feel the time is right to glam myself up abit.

Have just lost half a stone and I am slowly replacing my lack lustre post baby wardrobe with all the advice from mumsnet (big thanks to Mrs Badger et al).

So what colour should I go for? Feeling flush so can run to premium brand if good quality.

Thanks all

i have some the same look as that rouge noir it's nice on toes

I know this is a bit sad but tune in to QVC, their "todays special value" is an OPI nail set. 2 Colours, their Nail Envy, Nail Envy coloured, remover, hand cream, crystal nail file.

The two colours have just been released, a lovely red glittery one and a silver.

They show the todays special value at the beginning of the hour or go on to qvcuk.com

Aparently the HOT colour for autumn/winter is purple (or more poshly aubergine, probably) and I have to say i've seen lots of it about. It'd look nice with purple nail polish, or even silver.!

DrNortherner · 08/11/2007 18:41

There is a nwe chanel colour coming out that will over take rouge noir apparantly, can't remember the shade tho....

firstmum45 · 08/11/2007 20:36

Thanks for the info girls.

I'm amazed that rouge noir is still popular.

I've a bottle that must be over 5 years old and it is still ok not gone thick. Must be good quality.

With this in mind will check out Chanel counter when in town

Fanx all

Yes, apparently it's dark, gothic type colours but not black that we should all be wearing. I generally wear no polish at all or black polish but I'm sure I saw some really dark blue in a magazine and quite fancy that. Does anybody know any brands that do a midnight blue? Lennygirl - grey sounds good too - do you know any specifics?

boo64 · 08/11/2007 20:46

I heard a couple of months ago that very dark blue was THE colour for this winter. I have some from Boots - I think it is Ruby and Milly. It looks fab when wearing jeans.

janeite · 08/11/2007 21:26

Ooh thanks Boo - will have a look out for it. I feel like I'm about to step back in time, as I remember learning first aid as a Girl Guide with dark blue fingernails, with glitter in!

boo64 · 08/11/2007 21:40

If you find the Ruby and Milly blue isn't dark enough, try one coat of black and one coat of the blue.

janeite · 09/11/2007 18:59

Thanks Boo. Off to the shops tomorrow to see what I can find. Quite fancy a midnight blue silk blouse as well if I can find one.

I'm going for grey.

boo64 · 09/11/2007 21:35

I'd love to think I'm a style guru because I knew dark blue was one of the cool nail varnish colours for this season....but actually I only know 'cos I saw it on This Morning....not really Vogue is it.

janeite · 09/11/2007 21:49

Lol. Like that Barry M one, Cod. Are they only online?

ArrogantCod · 10/11/2007 10:14

no no
superdrug and boots

fab stuff

boo64 · 10/11/2007 13:21

Barry M was a staple of my teenage years - was cheap and cheerful. It takes me back...

ArrogantCod · 10/11/2007 13:38

miners here

janeite · 10/11/2007 13:48

Thanks. Looked in Superdrug today but the Barry M section was really small and they only had v bright reds, pinks etc. Might try town tomorrow, rather than the little one near me.

Lulumama · 10/11/2007 13:50

there was a grey barry m one that was supposed to be the colour, but they did not have it in boots...
