Which online Retailers take a long time to process returns?

Keen to know which retailers you find take a really long time to process returns just so I can try to avoid using them. I know during lockdown things are slower as there are less staff onsite and everything is slightly slower, but some of my recent experiences have been crazy.

Saint + Sofia - took 2 weeks to acknowledge receipt of an item sent back via courier, then they emailed to say it would take 2 weeks for them to process the return as 14 days is their usual processing time. So almost a month from the point that I posted it back!

Arket - very slow to process returns and very minimal communication

Any others?

Baukjen taking ages to acknowledge receipt
Also Uniqlo

atomicnotsoblonde · 20/03/2021 08:54

Oasis take forever

DaisyWaisy · 20/03/2021 10:06

Esprit and Jigsaw are terrible.

LaceyBetty · 20/03/2021 10:37

J Crew is the worst. You have to pay an absolute fortune to send it back too.

cad186 · 20/03/2021 17:37

Recently Oasis and New Look were really quick, H&M very slow.

Shellingbynight · 20/03/2021 18:16

I find M&S and White Stuff are quite quick.
Jigsaw took ages earlier this year, about 3 weeks I think. But it wouldn't put me off buying from them, I'd just factor that in.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 20/03/2021 18:22

H and m have taken 3 weeks with my last return .
Hush are slow
I use Klarna where I can for this reason as it's no loss of money until you know you want to keep it .

Supersimkin2 · 20/03/2021 22:30

Arket - so shit I had to shame them for a month on FB before I saw a penny back for two dresses I hadn't had.

M&S - you have to allow 3 weeks.

On the upside, I spend less online than I did in bricks-n-mortar.

MNWorldisCrazy · 21/03/2021 21:27

Anything paid for via Clearpay

Also don't even get me started on Squizzas! It's taken them a MONTH to inform me that they don't actually have stock of the item I ordered and that they cannot currently refund anyone due to technical difficulties!

Journeynotdestination · 21/03/2021 21:51

Arket take about 4 weeks

DramaAlpaca · 21/03/2021 21:57

I returned a lot of stuff to M&S recently, a combination of three different orders so not straightforward. I had my refund two days later.

Loopyloututu2 · 21/03/2021 22:07

Hush - I’ve started a thread about it the other day. Posted something back on 25th feb and still waiting. They only replied to my first email too (I’ve sent 3) and I haven’t had any acknowledgment that the item has been received despite me sending proof of postage.

I’m really disappointed as I buy loads from them and this is the first item I’ve returned - it’s really put me off ordering from them again. A package I sent back to Boden on the same day was refunded after 3 days! It was £110 too so not a cheap item Sad

Katy75 · 22/03/2021 00:11

White Co and Jigsaw very slow. To the extent that would not order again from Jigsaw direct. I got a Jigsaw cardi from John Lewis recently rather than order direct.

@LaceyBetty I used to find J Crew returns via UPS fine, but I noticed they have recently ‘improved’ their offering to international customers and are now using a new third party for international returns and charging a USD 50 return fee, which I find absolutely shocking, especially as they have permanently closed their London stores post Covid. Have you tried their new returns service? Am really put off ordering with them now...

Angliski · 22/03/2021 00:14

Chicwish. Two months on from returning their shitty tat and they are still claiming they haven’t received it and refusing to refund me.

Highforareason · 22/03/2021 07:45

Jigsaw, almost a month for refund, no acknowledgment they had received the goods back, I ended up having to really chase them up, never again. It was for rather a lot of money as well.

John Lewis, sent goods back 2 days later acknowledgment of return refund within a couple of days, they will be getting my business again.

LaceyBetty · 22/03/2021 12:06

@Katy75 I returned something last July and I think it was via UPS. I had to get authorisation from J Crew to return the item and was charged $35 for the privilege. It then was nearly a month to get the refund.

Berolloreb · 22/03/2021 14:38

Jigsaw are slow. To be fair they say they are!
M&S are always within a week for me, and I use them a lot.
Boden better than anyone though, gotta love their customer experience.

SalaciousCrumble · 22/03/2021 14:42

H&M were awful end of last year - I had to chase and chase for weeks.

ASOS were awful a few months ago and I ordered from them again a bit hesitantly recently - massive improvement! They've obviously automated the whole system and I got email alerts at every stage and a refund within a week. Will definitely be happy to order from them again now!

SoupDragon · 22/03/2021 14:45

Esprit were a bit slow recently but they explained they would be slower than usual because of Covid precautions and they kept me informed regularly.

purplecorkheart · 22/03/2021 14:56

Marks and Spencers used be awful for returns (Ireland anyway).

DramaAlpaca · 22/03/2021 15:00

purplecorkheart they must have improved because the other week I sent a parcel back on Monday and had my refund on Wednesday.

Highforareason · 22/03/2021 15:14

See Jigsaw have now stated on their website up to 17 days for refund, up from 14 days (and previously 10) still does not excuse the lack of communication to me and almost a month for refund.

Another retailer I had to chase up was Ellis Bringham, they state max 7 days for refund, I called after 2 weeks, but to be fair the guy did the refund over the phone, but why did I have to chase it up.

Twinkie01 · 22/03/2021 15:17

Baukjen are dire.

ConkerBonkers · 22/03/2021 15:18

Another one saying Uniqlo!

Domino45 · 22/03/2021 17:13

Uniqlo here too. Took nearly 3 weeks. You have to print the return label yourself which is tricky home working if you don’t have a home printer and you now have to pay £2.95 for returns. Definitely putting me off ordering now there’s a return fee as well
