Does anyone have vitiligo and know how to cover it up

Hi I have vitiligo on my face . It affects my eye brow and eye lashes and part of my nose and cheek. I use a eyebrow pencil and mascara to cover the white hairs. But I am not sure what to use on my face. I tried foundation but it just looked patchy and funny. I’m waiting for changing faces to re open. But a consultant for a different problem left me feeling very embarrassed about my face . So does any one have any ideas what can cover it up for now ? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

I’m sorry your consultant made you feel embarrassed, vitiligo is nothing to be embarrassed about, it’s beautiful and interesting!

I have vitiligo everywhere but my face and to be honest I love it so I don’t try to cover it up but I do find that fake tan evens it out more than normal makeup. Maybe try a thin layer (you can get ones that mix in with your moisturiser so you control the intensity of it). Then maybe just play around with a darker concealer under your foundation?

I know you didn’t ask but I follow ‘world vitiligo’ on Instagram and I’m amazed at how common it is! So please don’t be embarrassed, it makes you unique Smile

Thank you so much I will definitely check out world vitiligo. It helps to know you aren’t alone with it. I wasn’t really bothered before but after the dr was saying how bad my skin was it made me feel pretty rubbish. Especially as he wasn’t anything to do with my skin. Thank you so much. 😊

Unless your skin was actually relevant to what you were seeing him about you should complain as that is unacceptable and if people don’t complain then nothing ever changes . Like the previous poster I have vitiligo but mainly on my arms , I also have an issue with steroid induced bleeds on my arms so I’m like a patchwork quilt most of the time !

I’ve given up on trying to cover it up. Life is honestly too short. I’ve mostly been able to develop a ‘this is my skin, deal with it!’ attitude but some people are arses and a thoughtless comment can sting.

That’s so bad your Dr said that! Does he/she even know what vitiligo is?? It’s not ‘bad skin’ Jesus. Honestly there’s loads of dedicated pages and some really amazing images on the gram, I remember growing up I was the only person who had it (of my own age) but now it’s a lot more common as the effort to conceal it is harder than just embracing it. Check out the model Winnie Harlow as well, she’s amazing!

Thank you . I really appreciate it , I’m definitely complaining about this dr he was very rude. He told me I have bad skin and it’s because I’m overweight. And my hair and skin would be so much better if I lose weight. He was a gynaecologist so nothing to do with my skin or hair. I’m definitely complaining as I do t want anyone to have to put up with his rude behaviour. I think you are right to be honest I just need to be ok with it again. Thank you all. It means a lot to know you aren’t alone when it comes to these things.

Vichy dermablend concealer and boots no7 foundation is good for me . Not perfect and sometimes shade is slightly off in winter - but still good - doesn’t last throughout the day though , you may need an extra concealer I. Your bag to dab on .

Covermark foundation and powder are good

Have you ever tried / heard of Microskin?
My friend used it to cover vitiligo at her wedding. I believe she went to a cosmetic surgery clinic for a consult and first application then you get the stuff to take home
