Best slip-on shoes to keep by the back door?

I currently have a wrecked and abandoned pair of my husband’s trainers I jam on to do the what feels like endless runs out to the bins, get deliveries etc. I
Any recommendations for something easy to pop on and not a complete eyesore left by the back door? I need something with an ankle strap or back, not clogs.

I was going to suggest clogs tbh. I got cheap ones from aldi one year. Crocs with a strap?

Slothkin · 13/03/2021 17:41

Sorry that sounded very rude on re-reading, I’d really appreciate and advice please and thank you!

I was going to post the exact same question. I can’t bring myself to wear Crocs or anything that looks like them but would love something I can slip on to pop to the bin or shed.

starpatch · 13/03/2021 17:44

Crocs from sports direct?

LockdownIsDragging · 13/03/2021 17:45

I have a pair of ballet flats ( which have been chewed by kittens), comfy but not too unsightly.

NuclearDH · 13/03/2021 17:47

I use wellies but I’m quite rural.

Standrewsschool · 13/03/2021 17:48

Sliders have become our backdoor shoes

Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies · 13/03/2021 17:48

I’ve just bought a pair of pink gardening clogs from Aldi. Trouble is, they’ve already disappeared into the black hole that is dd’s bedroom. I thought they were safe on the grounds of their general hideousness...

Slothkin · 13/03/2021 17:48

@dementedpixie clogs would be absolutely ideal but I have weird wobbly ankles and a rickety muddy back garden. Fingers crossed we’ll sort that in the next couple of years so I’m no longer navigating across soggy mossy bricks!

Cheap Dunlop wellies. The cheaper they are, the wider they are, the easier they are the slip on.

LampsOn · 13/03/2021 17:52

(Like PP I'm rural)

dementedpixie · 13/03/2021 17:53

Ankle wellies?

Clymene · 13/03/2021 17:54

Skechers. I have some which you can wear as clogs or pull the (elasticated) back up to make a shoe. They're not beautiful but they're super comfy and I love that I can wear them as slippers to do bins or shoes to go to the corner shop

Smallinthesmoke · 13/03/2021 17:55

Crocs do some good ones which aren't clogs. Light and good grip.

I’ve ordered a pair of Dunlop shoe wellies for £12 so shall report back! Thanks so much everyone!

Good call: Dunlop are always great I find. Well made. And good value. I keep borrowing DD’s lined wellies as so comfy!

RuthW · 13/03/2021 18:04

Crocs but not clog style.

Slothkin · 13/03/2021 18:04

I grew up in a farming community and I usually think I’ve shaken it off to be a Big City Girl but there are definitely moments I know my teenage friends would understand while my husband looks at me in bafflement! I mentioned when looking at shoes about them being easy to disinfect and he just patted me gently.

We have an old pair of Birkenstock sandals for this. Size 6 but have been stretched beyond all recognition now by my husband's size 10s!!

Bensimon pumps from la redoute. ÂŁ20 a pair, slip on and can go in the washing machine

NotOnMute · 14/03/2021 07:52

In winter, I keep my walking boots with loosened laces tucked in to the by the back door. Step in, walk to bin, dry feet.

Slothkin · 17/03/2021 21:18

The Dunlop shoe wellies are ideal but came up much too small for me, so I’m going to try sizing up 2 sizes. Excellent quality for a little over a tenner though!

Slothkin · 17/03/2021 21:24

They’ll also be great for muddy cowpatty walks with my friend and dog I think!

Oh I like these! Do you recommend the plimsoll ones?
yikesanotherbooboo · 17/03/2021 21:33

I have short wellies in winter and fit flops or birdies in summer. I'm old and not very trendy though.
