Best knickers to wear with summer dresses

What I’m really looking for is a full knicker, big pants I suppose, as my bum is v wobbly which really shows under a thin summer dress. But where to get pants that actually cover the whole bum without showing seams or being really uncomfortable and hot like Spanx. Does anyone have the answer? I actually think a slip over any old pants would solve the problem in a way, but I feel I’d be too hot with an extra layer

Sloggi or Jockey are my faves, but i also have shorts from snag that are cheaper and very comfortable

BeagleEagle · 10/03/2021 17:08

I love my jockeys - no chafe and smooth lines. They're not too restricting either

Knittingnanny · 10/03/2021 17:15

M and s packs of 5 full briefs either microfibre or cotton/elastene are my go to for under a summer dress

Icenii · 10/03/2021 17:17

I got full ones from Asda! Nude or black. They're my favourite.

Annebronte · 10/03/2021 17:59

Sloggi or Chantelle.

Going commando is always an option when it’s warm enough. 😉

Yikes! Thigh burn!
Mrhwbin · 10/03/2021 18:13

Being large of thigh I always go for snag shorts under summer dresses.

Great, lots to look at there, thanks

Seconding the M & S multipack full knickers or I have found some lovely ones in Sainsbury's - these ones

Another fan of m&s full briefs here.
Also m&s cooling slips, they make even the cheapest of summer dresses hang like a dream and classy enough for weddings and the like.

Orchidflower1 · 10/03/2021 18:28

M and s all the way!

StarlightLady · 11/03/2021 06:16

I must admit, l’m a little puzzled here. Unless you are looking for control pants, which you say you are not, why would you opt for a summer dress that is so tight, that your regular knickers are not going to do the trick?

Also, l agree with @Whatalottachocca - with a summer dress on a warm summer’s day, the best knix are no knix.

WhiskyWhiskersdottir · 11/03/2021 06:23

Boody boy shorts

I’m not talking about tight dresses at all, more floaty ones. I just wanted something that were full short type pants as another layer over my whole bum. I find that my regular knickers don’t cover my whole bum which is fine under jeans etc but not under a thin summer dress. No knickers not an option at all, I want something to cover my bum!

I’ve actually ordered these from M&S and also some from jockey as per the recommendations here

I wear some, similar to those you've ordered. My issue is more hips and tummy, but they do hold my bum too. I don't like the wobbly feeling which I get all the time since having a CS! No pants under a floaty summer dress wouldn't work for me, or the good people of my town who would really rather not see my bum / vag in all their glory when a gust of wind gets me Grin. Under a tight dress yes, no pants would make sense.

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 11/03/2021 13:53

I wear cycling shorts , specially Tesco kicker ones but a size up so they aren't tight like shape wear .. stops any chafing or vpl and if the wind blows I know no one will see anything 🤣

MangoBiscuit · 11/03/2021 13:57

I have some just like they one's you pictured OP, but from Tesco. So comfortable and flattering that I went back and bought enough to replace my whole pants drawer.

I'd just come on to say this!
Oldraver · 11/03/2021 14:55

Ive just bought a cotton slip to wear under summer dresses, more to give a little extra

Though obviously not when too hot

sanityisamyth · 11/03/2021 14:56

Snag shorts are fab

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 11/03/2021 15:18

Actually I've just remembered I bought a pair of snag tights shorts last year too and they are good but I wear knickers underneath because they feel like tights but the Tesco ones I wear instead of knickers .

DaisyDaisyDay · 11/03/2021 23:24

I can thoroughly recommend full brief cotton knickers. Big cotton pants basically. They are so comfortable and cover everything. I don't get on with the slinky boy short/seamless sorts, because they roll up and/or don't hold your behind in.

I also have a simple small short length nude coloured lightweight underskirt which has made all kinds of too-sheer dresses and skirts possible. I wouldn't say the extra layer makes me too warm as they are very fine fabric. You'd need a slinky fabric underskirt rather than cotton though as cotton tends to stick to the dress or skirt and make it ride up.
