I really like these Timberland boots, but DH thinks they look like boots that old grannies wear - I'd like the Mumsnet verdict please!

I like the black and brown ones, but not the beige ones. Don't think they look like granny boots!

Mercy · 06/11/2007 16:28

Not my style but I've seen plenty of women in similar boots who all like fine imo.

But then I'm old enough to be a Granny so maybe my opinion is biased!

MaryAnnSingleton · 06/11/2007 16:28

not grannyish in my opinion but I'm not that keen on them..

sugar34plum · 06/11/2007 16:30

brown and black look ok quite trendy and stylish beige def looks grannyish tho

Mercy · 06/11/2007 16:30

look fine.

Yes, beige ones not a practical colour [granny]

LadyOfTheFlowers · 06/11/2007 16:30

I say granny too, but I am 24. You may wish to ignore my opinion.
Particularly 'granny' in beige, might I add.

VanillaPumpkin · 06/11/2007 16:30

No, not Grannyish imo. Sensible and easy to wear as long as not in the cream .

Dinosaur · 06/11/2007 16:31

I think if you are really tall and willowy, they will look nice.

They would make me look like the dwarf in Lord of the Rings, I think.

cadelaide · 06/11/2007 16:31

It's that rubber strip.
Not keen, but I wouldn't say they're horrible.

kittyletteItBe · 06/11/2007 16:32

ive just got these from TKMaxx - much nicer in RL, and RRP is £90 and they are £37 on sale there

VanillaPumpkin · 06/11/2007 16:43

I saw those in TKMaxx, but they looked like fireman wellies on me. I ended up getting some rocket dog long brown ones for £30 instead.
I do think the boots in the OP are overpriced, or at least you could find similar for cheaper...

Flier · 06/11/2007 16:44

thanks everyone. I'm fairly tall and slim (slim at the mo anyway!) and will be getting them in black, so think I'll go for them.

Hmm, methinks a trip to TKMaxx may be in order!

What rocket dog ones did you get for 30 quid please vanillapumpkin

VanillaPumpkin · 06/11/2007 20:12

Like these They are brown and the trim is red and yellow and green, but not obvious enough so that you couldn't wear pink if you see what I mean. They are SOOOO comfortable and look great over my jeans. I have had compliments from lots of people (probably in shock that I am not in trainers). The label said they are £80 new and there were quite a few different sizes. I think I got them about two weeks ago, but there are a few sizes on ebay too. HTH
