Hi,

Can anyone advise me please as to exactly what I should buy to cover my greys? All I want to do is touch up the greys, but I really don't know where to start, no idea on what to mix with, how long to leave on for etc.

Totally clueless. All advice very very welcome, thank you

Not a great pic, sorry, but here's the side view as if I was putting my hair 'half up half down' as my mum used to call it!

I'd go with a level 7. Apply to the roots only, when the development time it up, add some water and emulsify for a minute or 2 then rinse

triceratopsmama · 07/03/2021 15:45

Oh and about 30 minutes should be enough but it should tell you on the box how long it needs.

mumjustmum · 07/03/2021 15:49

Thank you @triceratopsmama! So something like this?
Do I need to mix it with anything or just apply with a little brush?

L'Oreal Professionnel Majirel CC Dye, Color 7.11 3474630666801 https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00VTN6Y3E/ref=cmswwrcppapifabcc_EYSD06GKKBQWQ76BP8V4

If you're going to order professional colour you'll need a developer too, 20 vol (or 6%) is the norm but intend to use 10 vol(3%)

So mix it according to the instructions on the box, 1-1 as far as I can remember, and apply with a brush

mumjustmum · 07/03/2021 16:03

Thank you so so so much. I really appreciate this.

Search 7-0 igora royal instead @mumjustmum

triceratopsmama · 07/03/2021 16:06

No problem at all! Happy to help. I'd go with the igora royal personally. The Loreal colours can be a little darker than they should be.

7-0 igora royal will be spot on for you. It's a natural so no warmth in it..

mumjustmum · 07/03/2021 16:13

Good! I hate 'warmth' 😉.
Purchased these. I'll post pics here when I'm done. Appreciate this so so much!

Can you change that 7-1 to 7-0? The 7-1 will pull warmth in a level 7, it won't cancel it

triceratopsmama · 07/03/2021 16:18

Or even buy the 7-0 too and mix them together, 30mls of 7-0 and 20 mls of 7-1 with 50mls of developer

mumjustmum · 07/03/2021 16:21

Done! Cancelled the 7-1, got the 7-0 arriving tomorrow. Thank you so much. God I love Mumsnet!!

mumjustmum · 07/03/2021 16:22

Got it. And I will! Thanks so much xx

Could I please ask about blue shampoos, @triceratopsmama, I have been using Nice 'n' Easy 9.0 on my roots and am happy with the results, but only after couple of washes with blue toning shampoo Fanola No Orange.
Could I put the blue shampoo on straight after rinsing off the Nice'n'Easy, before using that sealer/conditioner? What exactly is that sealer/conditioner, does it actually seal the colour or does it just condition? I hate it as it leaves hair soooooo limp and awful, regardless how much I rinse it. Could I use different conditioner?
Or could I actually mix the Fanola with the Nice'n'Easy and pop it all on my roots at once?
So many daft questions, I would be most grateful if you could help as it's all mystery to me.

triceratopsmama · 07/03/2021 21:06

Hi @requitalissima, sorry I'm only seeing this now, ok, so that stuff is just conditioner, it doesn't seal the colour in, you could absolutely use the fanola no orange straight after colouring, and then use the conditioner thingy afterwards, just don't be tempted to leave it on for ages as your hair will be more porous after colouring, but you absolutely can use it when rinsing out the colour.

triceratopsmama · 07/03/2021 21:07

Oh and don't bother using that conditioner if you don't like it. It has no benefit to the colour at all. Fanola nutri care is a fab one.

requitalissima · 08/03/2021 12:55

Thank you so, so much @triceratopsmama
, so kind of you to take the time to answer! Shall throw away the nasty conditioner and use the one I prefer!
Thank you again!
