Mole removal for cosmetic reasons but want it medically checked?

Hi can anyone recommend a dermatologist or plastic surgeon in London or Reading area for the removal of a large facial mole. I'd like to have it removed but would also like to have it checked to make sure it was nothing to worry about. Am wondering if plastic surgeons do those kind of checks or would one always have to go through a dermatologist for that? Thanks

I had a potentially cancerous mole referred to a plastic surgeon for removal because of its location - the idea being that he would get the best result in terms of healing/reducing scarring. I think you will only get it biopsied if it is potentially cancerous, unless you are prepared to pay.

I used Dr Ross Perry at Cosmedics in London. Great results, pain free and they test it too. He's quite well known.

When we were at school, my closest friend had a large facial mole removed - sadly it grew back within a year or two, which she hadn’t been warned was a possibility. I have zero idea how common this is because it’s the only experience I have with it at all, but I thought it might be worth a mention.

I use The Mole Clinic on Argyll Street and have had 3 removed - one for cosmetic reasons by a Nurse Practitioner there (simple removal) and one by surgeon there (husband also had a facial one done too) - previously they referred you on and I have used Julia Scarisbrook on Harley Street too. All excellent work - aesthetically and in terms of medical investigation. If you have insurance you can use at Mole Clinic and with Julia Scarisbrook - or self pay. My cosmetic self pay was about £150 to see plastic surgeon and then £300 for Nurse to remove - he could have removed it at a cost but didn’t need his expertise due to location.

Thanks ever so much for your responses, that's really helpful information. I'll have a look into those you've mentioned and thanks SendMeHome for raising that point re regrowth.

I had 2 moles removed privately at the Kings Oak hospital Enfield. They were sent away and checked. Doctors will not do it on the NHS now unless they think they are cancerous.
