Gap Long and Lean bootcut. They accommodate my sizable thighs!

JumpLeadsForTwo · 08/03/2021 17:18

@RampantIvy

M and S Sophia straight leg jeans

They look very high waisted on the model, but they aren't as high waisted as that (or maybe I have a long body). Straight legs suit me better than skinnies - 5'7" size 12 pear shape.

Snap - I'm a 14 on bottom half, but love these jeans. Enough of axing to stay put, not too much
RampantIvy · 08/03/2021 17:45

I wanted to add that the Sophia straight leg are a slim straight leg.
@middlesexgirl because running gear is all stretch and lycra, whereas denim (even with lycra added) has a completely different set of properties so it behaves completely differently as a fabric.

It does sound like you are a body shape that may struggle with jeans, the waistband needs to be structured for the jeans look and also the jeans to stay up. I have assumed you're apple-shaped and tend to put weight on in the middle? The problem is denim has limited stretch and is heavy, so it tends to drop/fall down unless it is fitted to the waist. But when the waist is wider than the legs, jean gravity is not your friend! I think you probably are going to have to size to fit your stomach comfortably and use a belt. Or try jeggings?
I agree with this though I am the opposite of an apple!
Things are getting better as I lose weight though so I'm hopeful I will find the perfect pair soon.
I was formerly a size 12/14, 5'6, pear shape with a mum tum.
I'm now size 8, fairly straight, I don't have much waist, with a small stubborn bit of tum which I'm still working on!
The difference in comfort level of the two is enormous. But still not quite enough to get me wearing jeans all day ... and certainly not skinnies. My best pair is Hush boyfriend shape.

My faves are my Gap high rise jeans. I have the skinnies and the slightly cropped cigarette jeans. I’m a pear shaped size 10-12 and they are so so comfortable and flattering. It’s partly the slightly stretchy material and partly the high rise fit (holds in your tum:)).

7 For All Mankind jeans. Making a come back for a reason.

MiddlesexGirl · 08/03/2021 21:33

Ah the other thing I have is a long waist... the measurement from my belly button to my crotch (horrible word!). So lots of jeans are uncomfortable because they dig in at the crotch.

I've recently found uniglow online and bought a pair of their skinny denim jeggings.

They were a game changer for me and I now have 3 pairs!
Super comfy, keep their shape and fit beautifully with no belt required.

MiddlesexGirl · 09/03/2021 00:27

My daughter keeps raving about jeggings. The last time I tried them they just highlighted every bulge. Could give them another try though? Any recommendations for high waisted ones?

Shopgirl1 · 09/03/2021 06:35

Topshop Jamie jeans for me. Not ready to ditch skinny jeans.

uncomfortablydumb53 · 10/03/2021 15:09

Top shop Jamie here too
Perfect fit for me. I buy the petite length for my short legs
I don't like anything loose around my ankles in case I trip over!( disability)
