If you are a clumpy boots type what to wear to a wedding?

I usually wear maxi dresses with clumpy boots or flatform sandals. Or short dresses, leggings and boots.
I am going to a wedding. Do I go against my usual style with dress and court shoes type stuff or adapt my usual style?

Be yourself, you’ll look and feel awkward otherwise. Can’t you get pastel clumpy boots? Or pale grey/silver if you don’t do pastels? Opaque tights and a short dress in nice fabric - sorted!

God not court shoes.

Flat form sandals, why not? Brogues and a 7/8 trouser or your usual boot style. If you wear it well, crack on!

Please don't abandon your style. I too am a doc marten girl. I have 4 pairs of boots and 3 pairs of sandals . I am, however, pretty stylish (blows own trumpet), am regularly stopped in the street to ask about my clothes and my style (yes, really) . I just could not put my feet in a pair of court shoes. They would literally refuse.
Have you checked out All Saints website for some inspiration?

Just posh up the rest of the outfit you’ll be fine

TwoBreakingIntoOne · 03/03/2021 22:22

I don't think I could actually walk in a court shoe but there are situations, not for the last year of course, where I do feel a little out of place compared to how others are dressed
I do have some nicer dresses but I wear clumpy type shoes or sandals with them
I guess I would smarten up with accessories then

Buy an extra fancy pair of clumpy boots! Looks fab. Grin

I like clumpy boots casually but for a wedding I would go for something from e.g. Irregular Choice or the 'nicer' end of TUK.

fabricstash · 03/03/2021 22:45

I have some lovely printed doc marten shoes that I wear

Do you like dancing? I'd keep your style but choose something you will enjoy dancing in.

Firefliess · 03/03/2021 22:52

Thick tights with a short dress make it look much dressier than leggings.

ElspethFlashman · 03/03/2021 22:57

Flatform espadrille sandals are your friend. Office have loads.

Very chunky whilst still looking summery and festive.

LaChatte · 03/03/2021 22:59

I change my laces to ribbons for occasions where I am supposed to look elegant.

Chimboo · 03/03/2021 22:59

I wore flowery converse hi tops to my wedding Grin am also a massive Irregular Choice fan and have worn their shoes to many a wedding ❤️

Craftycorvid · 03/03/2021 23:05

Watching with interest as I never feel I reconcile my usual style to ‘smart’ occasions. I look terrible in formal ‘naice suits’ like someone’s elderly aunt smelling a bad fart!

Cheeseandbiscuits. My feet would join yours on the picket line if confronted with courts. Grin

I have done weddings and formal occasions in pretty dress and DMs - either sparkly or patterned ones. It felt much more comfortable than heels when dancing, and I got some lovely comments. Definitely stick with your own style!

VegetarianDeathCult · 03/03/2021 23:14

I wore a sundress and silver biker boots to my own wedding, and I have trotted them out for other people’s weddings with a dress. Or I wear a tux-style trouser suit.

What time of year is the wedding?

Builtthiscityontoiletrolls · 04/03/2021 00:57

This or nude or Berry sandals block heel with a blazer and clutch.

Get some flat form sandals that are sparkly or beaded or have ribbons ties on or similar. So definitely your own style but with a nod to the occasion.

I’m a boots / trainers woman.
I’ve got a great pair of Ash shoes that are my go-to wedding / formal-do shoe. They’re actually quite edgy, but remarkably comfy.
Worth a look.

My niece got married wearing a fifties style mid calf wedding dress and white doc Martin's and it looked fab. No reason why you couldn't pull off a similar look as a guest.
