45 with big lips - how to counteract the "cold sausage" effect? No filters etc

I have always had full lips but they are shrinking with age into the dreaded cold sausage era. I don't wear lipstick, more tinted glosses but they wear off quick. Is there anything which can help? I can't afford lip fillers etc and I don't want them either. More recs for tinted gloss which lasts longer than most or creams etc for lips which are effective. TIA!

What's the cold sausage effect?

FreshFaceTime · 27/02/2021 20:39

No advice just really need to know what cold sausage is...

NonsensicalHair · 27/02/2021 22:18

Yes, what's the cold sausage effect?? I associate sausages with big, fat lips.

ladygindiva · 27/02/2021 22:22

I'm 46 and have always had very pouty lips, my best feature. I'm now afraid of this cold sausage effect.... What the hell is it??

Headsshoulderskneesandtoes00 · 27/02/2021 22:30

Cold sausage era lol?

KeyboardWorriers · 27/02/2021 22:42

Another one curious what the cold sausage thing is?

TheChosenTwo · 27/02/2021 22:54

I’d guess the cold sausage effect is exactly what it sounds like. Like a freshly cooked sausage is all plump and smooth yet when it cools it shrivels up?! I thought the imagery was very clear Grin
Anyway, I don’t have any ideas on how to fix it op, sorry, was just intrigued by the thread title and wanted to see if anyone had come up with a solution but they’ve all been derailed by the description of cold sausage lips!!

Headsshoulderskneesandtoes00 · 27/02/2021 22:59

Oooh in that case, try some of that tasty lip gloss that makes your lips tingle like Soap and Glory 'pillow plump' - it 100% smooths yer smackers!

WeIcomeToGilead · 27/02/2021 23:02

I have always had fabulous pouty lips but they are flattening ? Shape is same still big bit less fill

Gonna do fillers this year I think

jay55 · 27/02/2021 23:04

Fenty lip paint lasts really well but it migrates to teeth easily so be careful when applying.

ladygindiva · 27/02/2021 23:15

At 46 my lips are still plump and not wrinkly at all, and all natural. Have used no7 lipcare on them for years. Don't know if that's useful.

TaraR2020 · 27/02/2021 23:28

What are cold sausage lips?

Any pictures of cold sausage lips please!

I even googled!!

I'm also 45 and have reasonably full lips and no idea what cold sausage is & super curious Grin

Balaur · 28/02/2021 08:25

Haha sorry about the lack of explanation. It's a family phrase. Basically, if you cook sausages and let them go cold afterwards, they develop a sort of wrinkly, slight dehydrated appearance, which I compare my lips to. My mum has them too Shock @TheChosenTwo has it right. I'll have a look at the soap and glory gloss but was also hoping for some cream recs.

Ah ladygindiva, apologies, you did recommend a cream, thank you! I like no 7 products generally too.

Seriously recommend no 7 protect and perfect lipcare. I got it as a freebie when buying cosmetics a few years back. Loved how it felt and have bought it ever since. My pouty lips are in fairly good nick.( unlike the rest of me) Its reasonably priced too.
