Upper arms, rough skin

FredAstairesChair · 25/02/2021 09:23

Noticed myself developing this recently. I have soft skin everywhere else (late 30s) but on my outer upper arms it feels slightly rough and bumpy
I've been taking care to use an exfoliating sponge and I always use body lotion.
Does anyone else suffer the same? What helps?

Ameliorate totally cured my daughter's.
Avene also do one.
Lactic acid is the magic ingredient.

I’m another one who found it went after switching to bar soap.

I get it on the back of my legs from wearing gym leggings all day, every day. The Cerave smoothing cream is amazing for it.

HowLongTo2022 · 26/02/2021 08:11

I soak in a bath with Oilatum for bath. Skin not bumpy or itchy anymore.

Agree with PP. A heel cream like Flexitol applied daily will sort it out 👌

I havent found any moisturisers effective.
Best thing for me ive found is occasional application of a hair removal cream to dissolve the excess keratin, but mostly bar soap and a rough flannel and natural fibres

Mine has virtually gone on my arms using a combination of bar soap( I use nesti dante) in the shower not shower gel. Superdrug vitamin e cream and ameliorate.I don’t Exfoliate my arms at all. Hope this helps op

Mine disappeared after I was diagnosed with coeliac and went gluten free. That was 10 years ago now. Haven't had it since, and haven't had to do anything with scrubs or moisturisers at all.

MrDarcysMa · 27/02/2021 10:55

Op I have noticed mine flares up worse (like a histamine reaction) along with another health condition of mine and is generally worse the heavier I am, so i do think it's an inflammatory thing too. As well as managing it with exfoliation and creams, diet is worth a shot if it bothers you that much x

Nivea Extra Rich body lotion £2.99. Its so rich I use it as hand & neck cream. Smells fab too.

FredAstairesChair · 01/03/2021 17:54

I'm slim, dairy free and dont use shower gel. But I'm going to start sea salt scrubs and use a cream not decided which yet. The hair removal cream thing is interesting!

I'm liking Cerave smoothing cream for my bumpy arms, but my tip is - it goes on less stickily on wet skin.

Cerave smoothing cream does nothing for me 😕
