Post-Pandemic Princessing - Summer 2021

BloomRoses · 22/02/2021 19:10

Would anyone like to join me on attempt a "princessing" challenge aimed at when things (hopefully) start to open back up in the summer?

After nearly a year of lockdown consisting of comfort eating, social isolation, a lot of anxiety and a lack of exercise I feel like I want to dedicate the next few months to a lot of self-care so that I can emerge from lockdown feeling a little brighter and more confident than I currently do.

It doesn't have to just be beauty-related but can also be things related to nutrition, mental health, exercise, etc.

Links to previous princessing threads who I credit for the idea Flowers:

Disclaimer:
I know using the term 'post-pandemic' is maybe a bit overly optimistic but I can't resist a bit of alliteration and anyway, I'm choosing to be optimistic. Grin

I finally managed to give myself a proper (home) pedicure, I even painted my toenails. Bright red!!! They don’t look too bad! Quite chuffed with it!

Sleep by 9 sounds good!!!
I was watching Married at first sight Australia, gosh, those girls wear a lot of make up. I don’t even have a brush, I keep seeing them brushing foundation on...I have a blender (sponge). Still in its package 😂😂😂

Ageing gracefully here 🙄😂. That book would be interesting to read, but I promised myself I won’t buy any more books till I at least made a dent in the shelves I already got :)

BallsToYouSue · 25/03/2021 15:43

Yes, books are a bit of an issue for me too! I have been reading more lately. Not sure why. I've probably watched everything there is to watch on TV by now Blush. There is nothing left to watch!

Anyway, I put a load of foot lotion on this morning and then went to do yoga this afternoon and was slipping and sliding all over the place. So be warned DIY pedicurists! I'll just do it at night time from now on I think Grin

It is looking like good weather for a taste of freedom the next couple of days!

You win some you lose some... I indulged in hormonal Domino's craving (and leftovers of course) and put on a couple of pounds, but also got my fake tan and home mani/pedi sorted today in preparation for the prospect of seeing friends and family this week and maybe baring legs / feet.

Hope you are all having a good weekend?

BallsToYouSue · 28/03/2021 13:26

Hi @duvets!

I have been so lazy this weekend. No exercise, except a fairly chilled yoga session. Diet, meh. Princessing, non existent. BUT, I have continued clearing out my wardrobe and trying to 'curate' it a bit and plan for what I might add or get rid of this year. Trying to create a fairly minimalist wardrobe of things I love and getting rid of the meh bits and impulse buys. I'm feeling way Kondo, (I think...although I haven't actually read her book - it's in my to read pile)!

duvets · 28/03/2021 13:38

Nice! Sounds relaxing and productive. P.s. I know the yoga mat / lotion issue... I've almost come a cropper in the shower in the morning from the nighttime lotion application too Blush

BallsToYouSue · 28/03/2021 13:44

Oh lord, that was such a pain! Slipping and sliding all over the place. I'm not quite ready for falling into the splits when I'm trying to do warrior Grin!

I used to use an in shower body lotion, until DH wondered if I was trying to kill him 😂

I’ve definitely been “princessing” recently. I’m 32 but had a rubbish skincare routine (well non existent really). Now I use a whole host of bits - I double cleanse, use eye cream, a serum & oils. I didn’t have bad skin to start with but I can see a big difference. I also enjoy pampering myself each evening!

Well, we've been tentatively told that the office will re-open for those who want to go back sometime next month. It did re-open for a few months last year, but as I'm on the shielding list I didn't go back. As I've had my first vaccine and may well have had the second by the time we re-open I'm definitely planning on going back. But I really need to sort myself out by then as I've spent 12 months living in yoga pants!

Haircut booked for April 12th. It hasn't been cut since September and looks awful.

Have lost 8lbs so far during Lent. Need to carry on with the healthy eating, it would be nice to lose a full stone.

Have ordered some new clothes for work. Nothing fancy - jeans, tops, new boots. I work in a pretty casual office, but don't hugely fancy just wearing what I was wearing a year ago.

Have got a bit lazy with the skincare this week and it does show. Need to step that back up.

Have started using Sally Hansen Hard as Nails so that my nails grow nicely. Have also ordered more Seche Vite ready to use when I paint my nails for work.

Still brisk walking 5k three times a week and doing a yoga class twice a week.

I really want to go back to work looking nice, and not like I've spent a year on the sofa eating banana bread.

duvets · 31/03/2021 14:51

I hope you have all been enjoying the gorgeous weather this week...

I actually dared to get my bare legs out it was bliss!!! I had a couple of compliments on my hair (cut courtesy of DH, he will be so proud Wink)! Everyone out and about seems in such a good mood this week. Been enjoying wearing new threads, still need to get a few more bits, fancy a few graphic tees for casual warm weather wear.

How's everyone doing? Smile

applestamper · 03/04/2021 08:51

Ooh may I join please? I need to do some princessing, with a focus on general wellness. To start with I need to commit to doing a Pilates routine at home 4 times a week.
Today I want to do:

  • Pilates
  • walk
  • try on a denim dress I bought recently again, I'm pretty sure I'm going to keep it, but I'm seeing lots of nice ones online so I want to be sure I bought the right one.
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 03/04/2021 12:09

No chance to enjoy the nice weather this week, at work in PPE and now it's turned decidedly meh Hmm

But -
I have organised my perfumes on the back of the 10 Perfumes for Life Thread ( I don't have 10, but I've put them in a box to remind myself to use them. ) They were in a drawer so I never bothered with them .

Bought a nice , non creasing , navy dress for summer to waft about in. I discovered the last couple of years that when I'm home , a casual dress is much easier than faffing with tops and shorts / skirts/trousers .

Did the Korean Italy Towel Scrub last week - amazing !

And my neck is looking a bit sad and crepey so bumped up the neck cream to a richer one .

I've resisted the urge to do anything to my hair except use Blue Malva . I'm growing out the grey and have some 'highlights' from the silver growth which I think looks quite fetching. I don't have a root-growth of white thankfully .
Walked past hair dye in Superdrug "No, you cannot lure me in with the promise of chestnut , I'm off the Dye Wagon for good"

On my Wanr-To-Buy-List is new bras and maybe a couple of pairs of shapwear knickers if I want to pretend to have a smoother line under clothes if I have to go anywhere

BuddhaAtSea · 05/04/2021 09:12

@70isaLimitNotaTarget thanks for reminding me about the Korean Italy towels. It’s been a while since I last used them.

I socialised this week quite a bit (nothing fancy, just walks), but I did put a dress on and wore make up, soooo good!
