Returning to work after six years away - Help me knock'em dead!!!

I'm going back to work in my old office, after six years away having babies, fatter, saggier, greyer and wrinklier. My only hope, to be recognisable as my former professional self is a decent haircut (got that sorted today) and some fab outfits.
I'm thinking skirts, knitwear and boots rather than suits. Anyone want to help me shop?

local council, engineers dept, so smart casual-ish. need to stand out from the boys!

What would you feel comfortable but professional in?

ChipPYROMANIACminton · 03/11/2007 18:30

Not sure - i used to wear a lot of trouser suits & black but they look so dull & predictable now. Quite fancy some knee length flippy skirst a la boden and comfy jumpers. Nothing that requires ironing!

Slight of nork and hips but with a floppy tum! 5'4", size 10/12. Thank, really appreciate your help

Yes, some nice things there. Don't want to end up in M&s being middle-aged! Kew & Boden nearby too.

Is this too patterned? Not sure about it - would have to see it in the flesh, so to speak. I like these colours. Might be a bit lightweight though.

Am going to treat myself to a radley assam bag. Which colour? This will dictate my colour scheme - am leaning towards the blue. What d'ya think?

also like the skirt and boots - I wear white shirt with tank top over too, longish necklace, that type of thing. The tank tops are very forgiving to that 'floppy tum'

The blue bag's lovely. But the brown is the sensible option as it would go with more things (but isn't as nice). Go with the blue one...

ChipPYROMANIACminton · 03/11/2007 18:42

jackieno - prints are a bit loud for me but the right direction and i love the colours.

ChipPYROMANIACminton · 03/11/2007 18:43

Ooh - how about this - might be a bit longer than you want though.

JackieNo · 03/11/2007 18:47

Maybe?
Shame this is black.

JackieNo · 03/11/2007 18:48
