Best peach toned nude lipstick?

McDougal · 17/02/2021 19:08

I need serious help because beauty pie haven't had my absolute holy grail nude in in months.

If anyone is familiar with Beauty Pie, the lipstick I'm referring to is their future lipstick luxe shine in the shade Master Sweet. For me, it's one of those my lips but better shades that manages to perk the rest of my face right up so I don't look like such a zombie on teams calls.

On the site, they say it's a peach toned nude but no other brand seems to refer to nudes as peach toned. I'm a little pale so really trying to stay away from colours that wash me out anymore. Any ideas? I'm getting desperate!

Dior Iipglow in Coral is a great peach. Downside is that it's not long lasting.
Pillow Talk also makes me look ill.

I think I need to see if I can get a few testers and mixing might be the solution Send!

There really is no nude that suits all as the corpse reviews of Pillow Talk show Grin

Bitch perfect was terrible on me. I’m pale and it went in the bin.

@McDougal A revelation I had was that, like a foundation, it really matters with a lipstick whether has a warm or cool undertone and you will suit one much more than the other.

I was having next to no success picking colours I liked in shop (looking for nude, my own lip colour but better) as I seemed to naturally gravitate towards colours with a cooler undertone. All of these I did not suit when I tried them at home - the dug up effect.Smile Even though I'm pale-skinned I need a warmer undertone (same as foundation).

Ruth Crilly also wrote a blog entry reviewing lipsticks (Becca - too expensive for me) but was interesting to read as they had been categorised into warm/cool/neutral undertones. She said she was naturally drawn to cooler undertones but all looked bad when she tried them but had 100% success with the lipsticks with correct undertone. Which was interesting I thought.

I then did my own test with Beauty Pie lipsticks after they sent out a promotional email about lipsticks categorising them into warm and cool shades. I bought 3-4 of their warm ones and when they arrived they ALL LOOKED GOOD ON! Including a beautiful matt nude (had never bought a matt lipstick in my life prior to this). Was a complete revelation about the warm undertone.

So rather than going by nude shades that claim to suit all like Pillow Talk (which sounds could be cool-toned going by dug up remarks?!) it might be worth lipstick shopping by undertone?

McDougal · 28/02/2021 15:12

@ovenchips that's a really good point actually. We do everything else by undertones so it should be a no brainier to do the same with lipstick! I struggle to find that info on many descriptions which is a shame.

Longshot but I don't suppose you still have that email? I love beauty pie lipsticks but struggle with getting the shade right. I'm also still annoyed at them about master sweet never being in stock. I ordered nude blush as suggested by a pp but it's just not for me.

My hunt continues...armed with undertone knowledge Grin

Isn't Master Sweet actually back in stock now?

ovenchips · 28/02/2021 19:15

@McDougal Smile
I don't have original email (sent in Feb last year) but do in fact have a screenshot of the warm shades it listed - please say you tend toward the warm not cool or this will not be a lot of help! I will attempt to attach.

I also found a slightly odd website www.eppe.org/ which gives examples of MAC lipsticks by light/dark, cool/warm undertone which may be of use.
I may be barking up wrong tree but have just looked at Beauty Pie website and they seem to have Master Sweet back in stock now?🤞

@Phphion and @ovenchips I checked just after posting on here earlier and it is back in stock so I've stocked up just in case it disappears again.

Oven thanks for the screenshot though. That's really useful as I'm definitely more warm than cool so I'll give those a go. I already have bruised berry and it washed me out a little but might suit me once I get a bit more colour rather than the so pale I'm translucent that I'm currently rocking!

Mac allows you to try lipsticks on virtually by using your photo and I’m sure others will do the same so this might save you buying the wrong one.

McDougal · 01/03/2021 08:22

I've tried a few virtual try ones @Selkiesarereal and never get the same result in person. Luckily Mac sell minis so I haven't wasted as much but I'm less likely to take the risk on a full price based on the virtual results.

Anyone else feel that the virtual services filter the f*ck out of you so doesn't show your actual skin tone?

BTW, Master Sweet is in stock in the US and I bought it because of this thread. It is indeed a holy grail color. Just perfect for every day!

Laura Mercier Tender Lips.

McDougal · 01/03/2021 16:38

I'm glad you love it as much as I do @blisstwins. I only had enough allowance left to buy two so I'm going to have to ration it!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I've got quite a few to get through Smile

I thought the Chanel one was ok for filters but after posting last night I checked out the Nars US site and I looked amazing! There were a lot of filters!
