Wedding invite 6 weeks after due date: heeeeelp!

We're off to a posh wedding (Airth Castle) in January when the sproglet will be somewhere between 1 and 2 months old.

I'll be breastfeeding, I hope, and need something a)flattering, b)feeding-friendly and c)not black as that's the dress code.

I'm thinking black trousers for practicality (and the dress code can go hop) with a stretchy top and perhaps a long jacket over the top of that. However, I cannot find a thing online even in terms of inspiration.

I'm normally a size 16 - 18 and have put on about 2 stone so far (36 weeks on Tuesday).

Anyone with any ideas, sources or whatever. Bear in mind, please, that I live 60 miles from the nearest shopping city and in Scotland. Lovely London boutiques are, sadly, not going to be much use....

A top like this, perhaps?

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 01/11/2007 23:56

Or maybe this or this?

I like this (also in stock here about halfway down the page).

And this if you're tall enough (might have to order that directly, though]].

This looks quite forgiving of post-baby bellies.

Thelady, I saw you're in the Borders; Evans in Gala have lots of kimono-type tops at the moment. I wore one to a wedding when dd was 3 months old with a long camisole underneath-- it's quite easy to bf discreetly if you've got lots of loose layers going on, and I think it looked quite classy (I like to hope).

When dd was 7 months this summer I wore a strapless dress to a wedding and just flipped the top down to pop her on, though I can say quite catagorically I wouldn't have had the nerve to do this when she was younger!

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 00:08

This is a brighter colour.

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 00:23

Maybe this?

I think I might want this to be a bit longer over the tummy?

Potentially one of these tops here, here or here?

Thank you all! I'll have a hunt in Evans - though they're usually too wide in the shoulders for me - as a kimono top sounds lovely.

Otherwise, I think [[http://www.scrummy-mummy.com/breastfeeding-nursing-winter-sweater-p-123.html?osCsid=b9d3761b5f81a4 43b1882dfdc02762c7] the red twinset] looks hopeful.

This is my first, so I'm feeling a little clueless (can you tell?) about the whole out-and-about thing.

Botheration. Still can't get the hang of these links.

i went to a wedding in a strapless dress this kind of style, just folded it down to reveal my whole boob. took myself off elsewhere so as not to embarass elderly relatives (im not normally bothered by this but didnt think it was the time and place) and draped baby blanket over my shoulder so no one could see a thing. tbh i would wait to buy the dress tho, you have no idea what size and shape you will be (hey - you might be back to normal!) and then you have an excuse to go round the jan sales!
