Like The White Company but not The White Company

I ordered a pair of cashmere bed socks and a sleepy candle from the white company for a friend who was recovering from surgery, the short version of the story is that the parcel was never delivered and after a month of backwards and forwards with their (nice but hopeless) customer services I finally gave up and just asked for a refund. This is not the first time this has happened, in fact this has happened with every online order I’ve ever placed with them (they blame Hermes when it’s obvious that the items were out of stock but still showing on the website when I ordered and the parcels never even got as far as Hermes). Anyway, I digress. I like the white company and will continue to buy from them when stores reopen but in the meantime I still want to send my friend a nice gift.

Can you think of an online store that is like the white company in what they sell but isn’t the white company so there’s a chance that something might actually get delivered?

The cashmere bedsocks are made by Johnston's of Elgin, you can order those from them directly but the Conran shop also carry them (as well as the cashmere hot water bottle, which is also a lovely gift), I'm sure they have
a wife range of scentedd candles too. Otherwise I think Matches also have the socks, and I'm guessing they're in the scented candle business too.

Mark's do grey cashmere socks, John Lewis have them too. The probably both do candals.

I have always like cologne and cotton, they also package the gifts beautifully with a message - much nicer than the WH. Some things are in the sale at the moment.

Hermes are hopeless and I am not sure why any company uses them!

The one time I did manage to get something (not everything) I order from the white company it came in a lovely box and felt a bit more special than something from JL or another department store and really it was that I was after, the gift itself is less important than having something nice to open. I shall defo have a look at cologne and cotton. I did think of Johnston's of Elgin but I have looked on their website before and would need to remortgage to get a pair of socks from there I suspect!
