Has anyone else got suddenly terrible skin in lockdown? And have you found anything that works for it?

I have always had fab skin even if it’s let down by my actual face Grin

But the past few months i’ve had a very pimply forehead and occasional outbreaks of real spots elsewhere. I wasn’t this bad even when i was 14.

Can’t work out if it’s something to do with not getting outside enough, the fact that my diet and sleep are not brill as i’m locked in the house with a toddling one year old and a homeschooling five year old and chocolate is a better relief than hitting the wine, or whether it’s just being 42.

Is this happening to anyone else, if so did you wash your face in something magic and it instantly went back to being like-unto an angel’s wing? (A girl can dream...)

Mine isn't great. I rarely leave the house at the moment so it's probably that.

Definitely not "mask face" as I wear one for about ten minutes a week.

I am currently using Estee Lauder Perfectly Clean cleanser which is pretty good, leaves me feeling fresh. I think I need to change my night cream (Olay regenerist) which is fine as I have loads in stock Blush

Yep the same for me. I think it’s the lockdown and probably less exercise and fresh air. I’ve started steaming my face to try and shift blockages gently but have the temptation to pick. I have changed my moisturiser and am using a dermalogica one and let’s see how that works over the coming month. I’ve also upped my vitamins to try and give my skin a boost. I’m interested if anyone else has any other tips!

Sand and sky pink clay mask, I honestly can't believe the difference it's made!

I find pixi glow tonic works well when my skin gets congested.

Tea tree wipes/face wash and witch overnight serum has helped me, I could have written your post!!

Me, especially on my forehead - which is so weird as when I suffered with cystic acne and was seeing a derm I never, ever had spots on my forehead! I think it is stress, lack of sleep and fresh air, central heating.

What has helped (touch wood) is stripping right back my evening routine and treating my skin really gently. I remove makeup with micellar water, then use an oil cleanser (mine is the Chanel one but loads of other cheaper options) and then a facial oil (mine’s Boots Botanics). Previously I would have done Pixi tonic, serum, oil, moisturiser.

Oh I love Tropic too. I think I have their Clear Skies cleanser somewhere and that might fix my spots - thanks for the reminder @MumtoBlues.

I also have some Pixi Glow I can use - thanks @milienhaus

Out of nowhere i developed acne on my shoulders and neck (and scalp a bit) and I’ve no idea why or how to get rid of it. Never, ever had this problem before!

lockdownalli · 02/02/2021 18:45

@ABitOfAShitShow have you recently changed your shampoo/conditioner/hair products?

TheWashingMachine · 02/02/2021 18:47

I just have little sort of milia type bumps under the skin, so hideous my mother says it is probably cholesterol.

ABitOfAShitShow · 02/02/2021 19:20

@lockdownalli Literally nothing. It’s a mystery! Even when I had spots when I was younger, they were only ever on my face! Confused
